Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Benefits Specialist!
About the role
As a Benefits Specialist, you'll support a Regional Executive and Voluntary Sales Executive for the Life, Disability and Supplemental Health product lines for in-force business. You'll manage relationships with new and existing customers to sustain and grow business in the Western United States.
What you will do
- Serve as designated primary service contact for a book of business (under 500 lives) located on the West Coast
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer inquiries
- Build positive relationships and collaborate with internal partners to address service inquiries and provide consultative support
- Partner with Implementation Managers to successfully implement new business
- Manage day-to-day service work including Agent of Record changes, licensing updates, amendment activity, sophisticated billing resolutions, data feed set up, claim issue resolution and supporting enrollment events
- Lead client education around products, services, and Symetra processes
- Attend face to face meetings with customers including stewardship meetings, benefit fairs, enrollment meetings and finalist presentations (5-10% travel)
- Work in partnership with assigned Regional Account Manager to build a dedicated service "team" approach
- Collaborate with Regional Sales Executives to identify business growth opportunities
- Drive proactive service touchpoints with customers and track key activities in CRM database
- Work across organization to resolve issues and provide solutions to client as primary liaison
- Handle renewal process for designated book of business
- Participate in special projects and/or committees with a goal of continual process improvement
- Lead implementations from a customer facing perspective for state mandated coverage
- Support and back up Regional Account Managers and Regional Implementation Managers
- Attend as many implementation calls as possible for new customers in block of business to learn about them while in flight

Compensation
Hourly Range: $27.30 - $45.51 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
Requirements
Your experience and skills
- High school diploma Required; College degree preferred
- Life and Health insurance license required
- Four to six years industry related experience preferred
- Able to travel up to 10%
- Solid understanding of the external marketplace, generating profitable revenue growth by retaining existing customers, expanding business, and achieving customer satisfaction
- General Life and Disability knowledge with an understanding of health and welfare benefits
- Sales Proficiency
- Able to communicate contract provisions to customers
- Good verbal, written and social skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and Windows XP (including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook)
