Job Summary:

The Principal Segment Marketing Manager leads the go-to-market strategy for their assigned segment(s) and ensures the successful planning and execution of marketing campaigns. This role involves coordinating efforts across a matrixed team, including portfolio marketing, field marketing, demand marketing, customer experience, and account-based marketing (ABM). Key responsibilities include aligning campaign goals with business objectives, designing campaign architecture, determining audience segmentation, and overseeing the development and execution of reputation, demand, engagement, and enablement programs. The leader also manages content strategy and budget allocation, continuously optimizes campaigns based on performance metrics, and collaborates with sales and product teams to ensure alignment throughout the campaign lifecycle. The Principal Segment Marketing Manager will own their segment, understand the challenges to the buyers, and be visible within the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the annual Segment marketing plan to include the following programs: Reputation, Demand, Enablement, and Customer Engagement.
  • Ensure demand generation campaigns achieve annual plan goals (incl. event strategy).
  • Develop and leverage an in-depth understanding of customer needs within the vertical segment.
  • Define the market opportunity for a segment and categorize what form of solution should be promoted (product/service, marketecture, bundle, or integrated).
  • Monitor market and industry trends (e.g., industry regulations, technology trends, macroeconomic conditions, business processes, challenges) and terminology, and function as a segment subject matter expert.
  • Write and curate content in the segment vernacular (e.g., playbooks, case studies, blog posts, sales training materials).
  • Develop and execute an influencer relations approach by working with industry analysts, associations, standards organizations, and more.
  • Understand the demand type within an industry (new concept, new paradigm, established market).
  • Map out the customer buying process, isolate nuances, and specific buying patterns.
  • Contribute to or build industry-specific buyer personas or refine existing buyer personas based on industry knowledge.
  • Identify target buyer audiences within the industry.
  • Build relevant industry content to support go-to-market activities.
  • Collaborate with the sales enablement function, segment field/ABM marketing, portfolio marketing and/or sales operations on a well-defined sales enablement plan.
  • Perform competitive analysis, and build competitive strategy, to identify opportunities for growth and impending risks.
  • Develop and track clear performance analytics and key metric updates for marketing dashboards that align to the growth goals of the organization.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation and execution of relevant industry advertising and partnership opportunities to achieve brand awareness and thought leadership.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of segment and/or product marketing experience.
  • 5+ years of b-to-b marketing experience.
  • Experience in health care (B2B product or Consumer), health information technology, and/or network technology marketing.
  • Domain expertise in life sciences.
  • Cross-functional go-to-market planning experience with Sales, Account Management, and Product.
  • Experience planning and executing marketing campaigns using a full range of marketing disciplines, including but not limited to, digital marketing, social media, interactive media, video, advertising, tradeshows/events, direct marketing, press relations, sales training and support, and collateral creation.
  • Experience working with external partners to plan and execute marketing campaigns.
  • Experience communicating with and influencing people at all levels of the organization.
  • Product launch and brand positioning experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and business judgment, with the ability to discern market requirements from market preferences.
  • High proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in specialty pharmacy, specialty HUB.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation and/or email marketing technology, such as Eloqua, Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot, Exact Target, etc.
  • Experience with management and administration of marketing elements within SalesForce.com (CRM).
  • Experience with project management programs, such as Basecamp, JIRA, etc.
  • Experience with webinar platforms such as ON24, GoToWebinar, etc.
  • Copywriting and/or editing experience.

Travel:

  • Approximately 20 - 30% travel within the US for conferences, internal company meetings, and customer meetings.

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $144,700 - $176,900 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
