Summary
Provides legal review and advice on a broad range of matters, effectively manages litigation and claims, identifying potential liability, assesses and provides recommendations for minimizing risk, develops and manages defense strategy, while minimizing costs. Develop and provides in-house training, supervises and manages the development of support staff and the performance of both support and outside counsel, while building a diverse and highly effective legal team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide advice and counsel to Human Resources on all aspects of employment law including performance management, discrimination and harassment prevention, workplace investigations, labor relations, COVID-19 protocols, leave of absence and accommodations, wage and hour issues, contingent workers, compensation, pay equity, termination and restructuring.
- Handle health care related contracts, employee non-disclosure agreements, and employee privacy issues.
- Work closely with HR to draft and review policies and procedures.
- Provide legal advice and counsel on a variety of health and welfare plans and regulatory compliance matters including Affordable Care Act, ERISA, HIPAA and MHPAEA to the Benefit Group.
- Handle potential litigation, administrative charges and management of employment litigation matters.
- Will advise on federal, state, and local employment laws including Title VII, COBRA, FLMA, ERISA, ADEA, USERRA, and immigration.
- Create and provide compliance training on applicable employment policies and issues.
- Handle all legal matters related to subrogation, demonstrator employee vehicle lease program and service loaner vehicle program and workers' compensation issues.
- Handle all non-contract facility related matters examples include environmental issues and union issues.
- Handle other matters as requested and serve as back-up to other positions and practice areas, as needed.

- Juris Doctorate from ABA accredited law school, admission to Bar of at least one state and In-House Bar of New Jersey.
- Extensive knowledge in the substantive areas for which the incumbent is responsible.
- Excellent written and oral communication, problem solving, analytical, organizational and negotiating skills with demonstrated ability to achieve results.
- Relevant experience with demonstrated success in corporate law department, law firm or government practice.
- Excellent business judgment, agility, and ability to employ strategic thinking.
- Team-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative approach, and ability to provide cross-functional integration.
Experience : Preferred background in automotive or other highly regulated industry.
