The Orthopedic Instruments (OI) Power Tool product portfolios include power tools, cutting technologies and accessories for Total Joints, Trauma, and Extremity procedures. The Trauma Power Tool Portfolio Manager is part of the Upstream Marketing team. As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will identify new opportunities, evaluate priorities based on potential success factors, and work with customers, engineers and 3rd parties to take those products from ideation to global market launch. This portfolio includes the newly created "Smart" Power Tool business, aimed at the Trauma surgery segment. What you will do
- Develop and socialize a strategic plan that cascades divisional priorities and growth goals for the future
- Inform the Trauma Power Tool new product development pipeline by collaborating with R&D; Sales and Marketing, Business Development and Key Opinion Leader's to gather insights, develop, acquire and commercialize new products
- Prepare market estimates, sales forecasts, and financial models for early-stage opportunities to determine prioritization and potential impact of projects
- Analyze competitive landscape and propose product/technology positioning
- Coordinate and lead engaging customer feedback sessions with the goal of fully understanding their needs/desires/fears/motives which will include observing operating room procedures, and organizing cadaver labs
- Anticipate the needs of customers and patients and create a superior value proposition
- Partner with international teams to identify user needs and insights to ensure global success
- Partner with cross-divisional teams to develop solutions that meet the comprehensive needs of Stryker
- Obtain insights by leveraging key opinion leaders
- Effectively use and interpret qualitative and quantitative research to identify key industry trends, make decisions, and forecast future results
- Identify new opportunities in the power tool space by monitoring medical device journals/websites and participating in tradeshows
- Determine market entry strategy for product ideas which may include acquisition, licensing, supply agreements, product development
- Assists in analysis and decision-making for the annual strategic planning process
- Work with engineers to deliver technical solutions to meet customer needs
- Work with Brand Marketing to evaluate trends in current/adjacent markets to determine opportunities and pipeline strategies
- Responsible for delivering the business objective, marketing objective and leading the discovery process for the pre-commercialization plan
- Understand potential sources of new volume within current customer segment or outside of the current segment and the financial tradeoffs for pursuing each
- Execute a product lifecycle management (PLCM) plan
- Develop pricing consistent with the Marketing Strategy and brand positioning
- Clearly and concisely convey ideas through both written and oral communication
- Break down complex problems in a thoughtful and efficient manner
- Function independently and with minimal day-to-day direction
- Manage personal travel budget and schedule
What you need
- Bachelor's degree required
- 6+ years of work experience required
- 3+ years medical device or marketing/sales experience preferred
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering on established timelines
- Ability to be persuasive in the absence of organizational authority
