You will be a key member of a team that will play an important role in the overall success of the ESG implementation in SSBI.
As legislators have strengthen the requirements in the areas of sustainability, green financed, diversity and inclusion and human rights, EU financial regulators expect banks to comply with these requirements.
We seek a candidate with strong ESG knowledge and experience to help our stakeholders in understanding and navigating ESG-related challenges and keep abreast of benchmark activities in the financial industry. You will support the team and the Bank as well as the heads of impacted SSBI functions in the development and maintenance of a coherent set of comprehensive standards and guidelines around ESG governance across all impacted areas specifically, credit/ liquidity/ operational/ market/ interest rate risk management as well as finance and data governance. In your role you will contribute to cutting-edge solutions to mitigate regulatory risks associated with ESG obligations. You will be an important contributor in helping SSBI in building resilience in ESG Compliance risk management and you will be part of the execution of day-to-day deliverables to the best of your capabilities.
What you will be responsible for
As an ESG Compliance Specialist, you will
- Support the maintenance of a comprehensive regulatory database, including processes to identify and integrate emerging ESG regulations.
- Advise on applicable regulatory requirements as well as regulators' expectations in respect of the following activities:
- Integration of ESG considerations into third-party risk management, supply chain, and procurement relationship and activities.
- Assessment of ESG risks in relation to customer acceptance, and onboarding and gathering data and information to support assessment of ESG risks.
- Integration of ESG assessments into business decisions, including lending and credit risk due diligence, investment activities, and funding as appropriate.
- Integration of ESG considerations into other risk assessments to ensure that decision-making takes into account all relevant risks.
- Design of sustainable finance products to meet market demand and assessment of marketing activities to avoid accusations of greenwashing.
- Provide interpretative guidance to business partners and risk owners in the adaptation of internal policies and procedures to ESG regulatory changes.
- Execute monitoring and testing activities to identify control deficiencies and recommend risk mitigation actions.
- Support ESG regulatory risk assessments and in the evaluation of ESG-related regulatory risks in products and services governance frameworks (e.g. NBPRA)
- Identify/advise on ESG regulatory obligations in relation to third-party arrangements (e.g. ORADs)
- Advise on interpretation of regulatory requirements in relation to ESG disclosures.
- Work in conjunction with other Compliance team members to resolve ESG regulatory issues and ensure accuracy of accountabilities, and adherence to all policies/regulations/guidelines.
- Maintain and continuously develop knowledge around ESG regulatory obligations and industry best practices, SSBI businesses, products and services, and key technology in use by the business units.
- Support Compliance management and colleagues in the development, implementation, reviews and revisions of Compliance manuals, policies and procedures.
- Liaise with Compliance colleagues globally to share and complete deliverables.

- A solid background in Compliance, Audit and/or Business Control function(s) with expertise in ESG regulation, compliance risk management and monitoring/testing within the financial services.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- MA/ MSc/ BA/ BS (or equivalent experience) in a related field
- Minimum of 6-8 years relevant work experience with risk, compliance, legal or audit functions within the financial services sector preferred, strong knowledge of the IT area and regulation is required
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate with and appropriately influence all levels of management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills
