Who we are looking for:

The Global Credit Finance (GCF) Team provides customizable credit and liquidity solutions and diverse financing options for a range of global clients. In particular, we have over 20 years of experience providing global credit to some of the world's largest institutional investors. The Sustainability Analyst role offers the opportunity to work across a broad spectrum of fixed income asset classes and strategies including Fund Finance/Capital Call, CLOs Private Credit, Commercial Real Estate, and Leveraged Loans. The individual will be responsible for integrating climate and environmental risks into the GCF business strategy across jurisdictions and work collectively across the organization to develop bespoke programs and frameworks for integrating sustainability considerations into the BAU investment decision-making process, with special focus within the European Union. The successful candidate will be expected to interact internally with subject matter experts within the business lines corporate Sustainability teams and, risk management, as well as with broader industry to shape their contribution and development.

In addition, this role will provide ongoing business support outside of the sustainability lens, on an as needed basis, in support of SSBI/GCF's ongoing goal of risk excellence through execution of the appropriate infrastructure framework (e.g. procedures, controls) and outsourcing agreements.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Producing proprietary assessment frameworks and analytical tools leveraging external reports and scientific research, and conducting in-depth analysis against frameworks
  • Leading regular Sustainability review meetings with deal teams on relevant issues
  • Monitoring counterparty activities on an on-going basis and keeping abreast of event risks
  • Effective internal dialogue with deal teams on company and sector research
  • Assisting Global Sustainability Team on improving current Sustainability/Climate policies, data collection and reporting processes
  • Leading and Participating in working groups, such as the Balance Sheet Working Group
  • Supporting external communication to investors and stakeholders
  • Benchmarking peer best practices for integration and keeping abreast of general market developments in the space
  • Producing counterparty level research with emphasis on sustainability, credit worthiness and investment relevance, as needed
  • Respond to RFP requests as needed
  • As needed, Contribution to the SSBI/GCF team in the form of support of a robust procedure and control environment, execution of outsourcing agreements and other matters critical in supporting the risk posture of SSBI/SSBT.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong analytical ability with an attention to detail. An understanding of credit analysis would be preferable
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to manage one's own time to complete work of high quality
  • Understanding of core environmental, social and governance indicators, KPI's, and frameworks to identify those most material to State Street's loan book and how they might impact credit risk and the potential for returns. The candidate may bring a detailed knowledge and experience of a particular aspect of sustainability
  • Data analysis and experience with working with large amounts of Sustainability/climate data will be viewed favorably
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required along with the ability to disseminate complex information in a manner which is easy to understand.
  • Team player, capable of leading sustainability framework and also contributing to other priorities within GCF, including review of procedures, control, outsourcing agreements.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with PowerBI, Refinitiv and Bloomberg will be viewed favorably.
