Key Responsibilities

This Boston or London-based position will be a senior member of the Investment organization, reporting directly to the Global CIO, will work closely with the other asset class CIOs and business Heads and will collaborate closely with senior leaders in the Client Coverage Group and Chief Business Officer teams as well as with the primary support functions, including operations, technology, compliance, legal and risk. Your role will include:

  • Develop and drive the vision for the GFIS team, including assessing which capabilities to prioritize, developing the narrative for the team and engaging with key stakeholders and clients
  • Work collaboratively with client-facing and product leaders to develop and drive product strategy to scale the business
  • Manage overall GFIS success metrics (tracking error, operating losses) and P&L in coordination with regional/business leaders (Current AUM $1.1 trillion and annual revenue of over $500 million)
  • Understand and drive team wide understanding of market and industry dynamics, keeping his/her finger on the pulse of what competitors are doing, how the market is shifting and what impact these dynamics should have on product and client engagement strategy both in the short term and long term
  • Drive innovation agenda through broad understanding of investment capabilities, client needs and competitor products
  • Act as key Investment Team interface with significant partners, joint ventures and other external parties critical to the development of industry-leading capabilities
  • Meet with institutional and retail intermediary clients, prospects, and consultants to engage in detailed discussions regarding State Street's Fixed Income heritage, vision for the future and ability to align with their objectives
  • Champion critical investment team business initiatives, including leveraging global footprint, technology and harmonized operating procedures more fully
  • Foster intellectual curiosity about macroeconomic and investment topics that are relevant to our global client base
  • Support mobility and high performance culture as we transform the business

In addition, the team leader should show real passion for investment management, intellectual curiosity and strong teaming skills.

The GFIS team will fulfill its function effectively by

  • Executing on mandates and delivering exceptional outcomes for clients across a range of index and active fixed income strategies
  • Engaging with key clients and their advisors on new research, developments, techniques and strategies to achieve the preferred risk/return profile
  • Taking overall accountability for the end-to-end set of activities required to deliver a set of investment capabilities that are relevant to our client and market strategy
  • Working closely with technology, legal, compliance, risk and other business partners to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness programs
  • Staying abreast of industry trends and competitive dynamics to identify emerging threats and opportunities

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years' experience in investment leadership managing a similar business line with a heavy emphasis on fixed income capabilities, factor/quantitative processes and/or operationally enabled portfolio construction and management
  • Advanced degree in Business or Finance and/or CFA designation preferred
  • Deep knowledge of investing value chain, from research and idea generation to portfolio management, trading, trade settlement and ongoing servicing and reporting.
  • Experience operating in a dynamic environment while managing various stakeholder needs and overall business risk factors
  • Experience leading businesses through transformational change
  • Attentive to detail with an ability to look critically at a problem and proposed solutions
  • Ability to build, manage, develop and motivate a high-functioning, diverse team to deliver results
  • Ability to influence colleagues to support business goals
  • Strong commercial mindset and ability to breakdown barriers to achieve financial goals
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to execute independently yet also maintain strong team orientation

Salary Range:
$300,000 - $412,500 Annual
