The team enables our engineering teams through strategic partnerships and cost insights, by forming valuable partnerships with top IaaS and SaaS providers, encouraging these relationships for our engineers' benefit and leading cost engineering to enable Spotify to scale sustainably.

As Head of Technology Procurement, you will lead the purchase and oversight of all technology at Spotify. You will interact with leaders across Spotify and the tech industry, working to make Spotify faster and more efficient. This position will hold remit across the entire space from Tech Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Management, Tech Financial Planning & Analysis.

What You'll Do

  • Lead technology sourcing and procurement, vendor management, and cost engineering. Develop, hire, and scale our team.
  • Work in a multifunctional team to lead sourcing and negotiation of commercial agreements with key technology providers. Stay informed of market trends and technology innovations, assisting other Spotify leaders with evaluation of new technology partners.
  • Maintain the relationship between Spotify and our strategic partners with the goal to maintain healthy partnerships where both partners derive value. Partner with engineering leadership to understand how procurement can support and unblock their organisations.
  • Lead service level agreements with vendors, working in partnership with other Spotify leads to supervise performance, continually optimise value, and address issues when things do not go according to plan
  • Serve as the custodian for financial forecasting, cost clarity, and realisation of cost savings for use of infrastructure-as-a-service and cloud native technology providers.

Who You Are

  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplined teams spanning technology, financial planning, and vendor management.
  • Significant experience working at or with leading cloud providers is key, with a deep understanding of critical technology for internet-based technology companies across cloud computing, big data, and mobile computing.
  • Immersed in the cloud landscape, on the lookout for new technologies, vendors, tools, and partner management approaches-and to be able to synthesise these into easily digestible strategies, delivery plans, and metrics.
  • Broad enterprise technology background and have proven experience building accountability mechanisms, holding partners accountable to commitments, and resolving issues.
  • Deep interpersonal skills to build on relationships between organisations that are characterised by a high degree of transparency and trust.
  • Real-world program management skills, especially leading decentralised programs across a diverse number of partners and experienced leading development source-to-pay processes, in the tech domain.
  • Data-driven, comfortable using analytical or data scientist skills, and communicates messages to different personas using meaningful metrics.

Where You'll Be

  • This role will ideally be located in Stockholm or London, or potentially one of our other EMEA locations (*excluding Germany, France and Netherlands for now due to on-call restrictions). We operate within the Central European and Eastern US time zones for collaboration.
