POSITION OVERVIEW
SEO Scholars is a free eight-year academic program that gets talented, low-income public high school students to and through college. Site Assistants execute the operations of SEO Saturday Academy.

The Sites
Saturday Academy takes place at one of our partner sites through the semester where the Site Assistant will be placed:
- 12th/9th Grade: Baruch College, (Vertical Campus Building, 55 Lexington Ave., New York).
- 10th/11th Grade: LIU Brooklyn, (1 University Plaza, Brooklyn).
Occasionally, Orientations and/or Professional Development for all grade assignments will be held either on Zoom or at the SEO Office:
- 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY (Financial District).
Dates & Weekly Hours:
- Spring Saturday Academy: Typically, 3 Saturdays a month, exact dates vary based on where a site team member is placed.
- Baruch program dates:
○ January 25
○ February 1, 8
○ March 1, 8, 22, 29
○ April 5, 12, 26
○ May 3, 10
- LIU program dates:
○ January 11, 18, 25
○ February 1, 8, 15
○ March 8, 15, 29
○ April 5, 12, 26
○ May 3, 10, 17
Key Responsibilities:
- Check in Support - Welcoming and checking in scholars, instructors, and program staff. Answering questions regarding the day’s events and directing SEO community members to different spaces on campus.
- Navigate program technology – Setup program technology such as our attendance tracker, barcode scanners and Zoom chat. Provide project and adapter support as needed.
- Track Inventory - distribute and track requested items such as Metrocards, instructor totebags and any technology loaned out for the day.
- Lunch Distribution - pick up and distribute scholar lunch on-site
- General Program Support – Provide support for end of day closing procedures, completing biweekly inventory, moving program materials to storage and replenishing snacks.
- Program Culture – Project an energetic, engaging, and approachable persona to promote students’ connection to the program, investment in the learning experience, and positive relationship to all members of the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-orientation, and ability to multitask and handle challenging priorities
- Highly resourceful and solutions-oriented; flexible to work either in-person or virtual environments when needed
- Comfortable with and skilled at working with and navigating technological learning systems
- Sound judgement, maturity and ability to communicate and serve as a role model to high school students
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team based environment
- Can lift and carry boxes up to 30 pounds
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This position is benefits ineligible in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
The compensation listed in this posting reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and SEO reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
