Systems Engineer III

CO Salary Range: USD 78,900.00 - 139,500.00 per year

THE SCOPE

The Systems Engineer III will provide day to day operations support of Spectrum TV microservices hosted in AWS. The engineer will focus on video infrastructure build out, application deployments, advanced troubleshooting and stability of the systems. Will participate in full life-cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primarily responsible for production application deployment and Tier IV support for microervices hosted in AWS.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business needs..
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of complex system architectures.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to ensure the organization's systems remain competitive and aligned with business goals.
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience alongside security measurse and vulnerability management of the the infrastructure.
  • Coordinates with internal departments to review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for infrastructure scaling feasibility, cost, resilience and reliability and functionality.
  • Creates work effort estimates for new features with process optimization, automation and bug fixes for use in prioritization and release management.
  • Reviews new tools, application frameworks for mitigating architecture challenges that solve scaling and performance issues.
  • Provides 'on call' support to resolve infrastructure issues and perform deployments after normal business hours.
  • Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window).
  • Works with database administrators, software developers, network engineers to configure, tune and maintain infrastructre
  • Documents systems configurations and upgrades.
  • Designs and implements change and control policies and disaster recovery plans; lead troubleshooting efforts to restore functionality in the event of an outage.
  • Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Advanced ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications
  • Advanced ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures
  • Advanced ability to build, deploy and troubleshoot problems in AWS services, Kubernetes, CICD pipelines leveraging terraform, ansible and Cloudformation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, monitoring tools namely DataDog, Splunk and Kibana.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services, Kubernetes and Aurora, DocDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra and Mongo databases
  • In-depth knowledge of choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring and control of the systems engineering process leveraging Kubernetes addons Istio, Valero , Valult, argcoCD ,
  • Fannel, Calico, Aws secrets manager.
  • Intermediate knowledge on Python scripting
  • Ability to effectively transform an operational need into a description of system parameters and incorporate those parameters in the control of the total system development to achieve an optimum, cost-effective balance of all system elements

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience; May require Industry Standard Certifications

Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years

  • Linux Administration and scripting experience - 5+
  • AWS, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies - 3+
  • Deployment operations, production on-call support and build release engineering experience -3+
  • System Administration work experience - 3+

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
