Materials Coordinator (Nights)

Position Objective
The Material Coordinator will identify, create, and monitor material requests to the internal warehouse to support production and other business needs. The Material Coordinator will monitor raw and work in progress (WIP) materials in the Available for Backflush (AFB) sub-inventory and ensure a high degree of accuracy between the physical count and the Oracle (MRP) system. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of material utilization and must be able to work independently with little supervision. Previous experience in Warehousing, Cycle Counting, and using an MRP system such as Oracle is also desirable.

  • Monitor material levels in AFB and submit material requests (move orders / Kanban) in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and material order sheets; work with Engineering to updated as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and escalate to Warehouse / Planning as necessary to keep stock at an optimal level.
  • Monitor and communicate "Hot Parts" as needed to keep production operating without material shortages.
  • Using Oracle reports, pull expired materials from AFB and segregate to quarantine area for disposition.
  • Conduct cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory on production.
  • Maintain accurate records of consumed parts and material on daily production.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Investigate and resolve any inventory issues that arise in production.
  • Prepare reports for senior management on the status of production usage.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • All other duties assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in a production environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production environment.
  • Excellent people and communication skills: ability to motivate, train, and engage people.
  • Working knowledge of Kanban System.
  • Knowledge of FIFO (First In First Out) practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High proficiency using a computer / scanner.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, and other software(s).
  • Ability to lift and handle materials weighing 25+lbs occasionally.
  • Understanding of material counting and weight scale counting.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
