Become a Data Engineering & Integration Architecture, Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our IT data management solutions. In this job, you'll be responsible for developing and socializing data architecture and engineering strategy, roadmap, and solutions. You will design and implement scalable data architectures and engineering solutions to support business needs for multiple business units. This role requires a combination of data engineering and integration skills to enhance our operational efficiency and data utilization.
Key Focus of Role
- Data Engineering: Perform data engineering work to support data science and analytics use cases. Including creating advanced visualizations (using tools such as PowerBI, SAP Analytics Cloud) and tools to provide insight, drive action, and support work throughout the business. Handles and scales data pipelines from internal and external data sources to support new product launches and drive data quality across data products.
- Data Management: Design and implement data models, data warehouses, and data/ analytics solutions.
- Integration Solutions: Create and handle integration solutions to facilitate seamless data flow between disparate systems, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop best practices/ standards/ guidelines for data and integration domain.
- Architectural Design: Develop and maintain data architectures and integration frameworks, patterns for enterprise with emphasis on T&D, Power Procurement, and Generation applications. Develop system requirements, logical data models, data mappings, comprehensive data and integration design for solutions. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multi-functional teams, including IT, engineering, operations, and business partners, to understand requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure data solutions align with regulatory compliance requirements and data governance policies. Implement robust data security measures.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architectures, integration solutions, and processes. Provide regular reports on project progress and data engineering use cases

Responsibilities
- Manages and scales data pipelines from internal and external data sources to support new product launches and drive data quality across data products
- Facilitates data engineering activities covering data acquisition, extraction, normalization, transformation, management, and manipulation of large and complex data sets
- Keep abreast of new and current data engineering, big data and data science techniques. Research methods, techniques, and new practices; develop and promote data engineering best practices, standards and guidelines
- Works closely with subject matter experts to design and develop front end applications with data model and data pipelines supporting the applications
- Provides governance and oversight of data assets, data environments and relevant data procedures, with the proactive planning and enforcement of data asset naming conventions
- Builds and maintains data pipelines using big data processing technologies to process and analyze large datasets; uses ETL processes on the internal cluster
- Develops and maintains data warehouse schema and data models, ensuring data consistency and accuracy
- Ensures ongoing alignment of technical and business strategies based on changing business and technology drivers and risks
- Creates advanced visualizations and tools to provide insight, drive action, and support work throughout the business
- Identify and design Data-as-a-Service candidates for improved data availability and consumption
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics/ Mathematics or equivalent STEM major
- Seven or more years of experience in data processing large data sets, hands-on with data transformation, aggregation, and filtering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Integration Architecture.
- Experience in Electric Utility functional domains, in one or more of the areas: Asset Management, Work management, Electric Grid Operations, Outage Management.
- Three or more years of experience and technical knowledge of Data/ Data Integration technologies or platforms, such as: Snowflake, SAP Hana/BW, Elastic Search, Azure/ Google Cloud data and integration tools/ technologies, SAP PO/CPI, SAP DI, SAP DataSphere, API Management platform (e.g. Datapower).
- Experience and familiarity with GIS systems and SCADA architectures.
- Experience in data engineering, data mining, large scale data acquisition, transformation, and cleaning both structured and unstructured data.
- Experience with cloud computing.
- Experience with Python, PySpark, NodeJS/VueJS.
- Experience with data modeling, data engineering, and data warehousing.
- Experience and proficiency in data engineering and visualization tools such as Power BI, Power Flow, SAP DataSphere, SAP SAC, SAP BW, Python, SQL.
- Experience and proficiency in integration tools and platforms such as SAP DI, SAP Datasphere, SAP CPI/PO, API Management.
- Snowflake certification.
- Cloud Analytics certification.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and integration challenges.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical collaborators.
- Experience in managing and delivering projects on time and within scope.
- Experience and familiarity with Agile methodologies is a plus.
Additional Information
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.\u202f Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.\u202f Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
