The Corporate Income Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the income tax provision and compliance function at Sonepar. They are responsible for the development and training of junior staff members. They will work closely with the Income Tax Director and VP of Tax to develop and implement strategies for tax planning. They are responsible for reviewing workpapers prepared by the income tax team to ensure they are in accordance with Federal, State, and Local tax laws. They will work to identify areas of improvement to increase the efficiency of the tax department. They will research and prepare summaries of current and proposed tax laws, regulations, and technical tax memorandums, and be prepared to brief management on the impact these tax regulations have on the organization.
What you will do:
- Oversee the preparation of the annual income tax provision, journal entries, and footnotes.
- Review tax account reconciliations and advise staff on changes and updates.
- Supervise external tax accounting firm to ensure timely and accurately filed income tax returns.
- Approve calculations and forms prepared by tax staff for annual return extensions and quarterly estimated payments.
- Manage Federal and State income tax audits.
- Research tax law and monitor legislative and regulatory developments.
- Develop team members through periodic training and monitor performance through reviews and feedback.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 6-7 years of Corporate federal and multistate tax preparation experience, Public preferred
- CPA license or all parts of exam passed
- MBA a plus, although not required
- Knowledgeable in tax provision preparation and OneSource Tax Provision software
- Transfer pricing knowledge a plus
- Experience with MS Excel, Power Point and Word
