Location: We are seeking a Porter to join the Sodexo Live! team at Descanso Gardens, located in La Cañada Flintridge, CA.

We are an urban retreat located 20 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. Descanso Gardens is a place of year-round natural beauty, with internationally renowned botanical collections and spectacular seasonal horticultural displays. Descanso Gardens welcomes more than 750,000 visitors annually. The principal collections include California native plants and oak woodlands; one of the largest collections of camellias in the Western Hemisphere; a rose garden with specimens from all corners of the globe; and significant presentations of lilacs, maple trees, cherry trees and iris.
Job Overview:
Porters play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of Descanso Gardens catering spaces. As a Porter, you will support the culinary and retail teams by ensuring all areas, including kitchens, dining areas, and storage spaces, remain clean, safe, and well-organized. Your commitment to cleanliness and attention to detail will help create an exceptional dining experience for our guests, contributing to Descanso Gardens' mission to provide a welcoming and memorable environment. You will support the kitchen team by keeping workspaces free from clutter, properly handling dishware and utensils, and ensuring compliance with Sodexo Live!'s health and safety standards. This role requires teamwork, efficiency, and a strong commitment to cleanliness and organization in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of indoor and outdoor spaces, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of events, ensuring all areas are clean and ready.
- Handle the transport of equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and public areas throughout the day.
- Ensure all walkways, entrances, and common areas are free of debris and obstacles.
- Provide support for other departments with cleaning or organizing tasks.
- Respond promptly to any emergency cleaning or maintenance requests.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work effectively in a high-activity environment with wet floors, varying temperatures, and noise.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests.
Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
