Role Overview

Sodexo Energy & Resources is seeking to bring on a Director, Construction Management for a complex facilities management account for an oil & gas business partner in the energy market. This account is a strategic partnership with one of the world's largest and most prestigious oil companies. The position is based onsite in Houston, Texas and reports into the Senior Program Director, Construction Services.

The Director of Construction is a pivotal leadership role crucial for overseeing the successful planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects. This role involves strategic planning, team management, and high-level stakeholder engagement to ensure projects meet agreed specifications, budgets, and timelines.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise and high-level management skills to ensure that construction projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. The Director of Construction must exhibit exceptional leadership qualities, profound knowledge of the construction processes, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations and multiple priorities simultaneously while leading and developing their team.

What You'll Do

  • Have direct responsibility for the development and execution of the long-range capital projects plan from conception to completion involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation, managing materials, labor and coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for flawless execution of projects.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs), Measures of Performance (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements and Sodexo standards.
  • Ensure project management plans respect concurrent and active business operations in all projects.
  • Communicate positive and realistic expectations to your team. Develop and empower team members in career aspirations and goals.
  • Ensure teams and team members adhere to fiscal obligations and budgets and cultivate a positive culture of high safety and quality standards.
  • Manage risks and establish project recovery plans when required. Resolves disputes with minimal need for escalation.
  • Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors.

What You Bring

  • Commercial construction project management experience.


  • Extensive experience in the construction industry, particularly in leadership role managing multiple large projects.


  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field preferred.


  • Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar are highly favorable.


  • Proficient in Construction/Project Management software.


  • Proven experience connecting with and leading / developing a team.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Functional Experience - 7 years in construction or related field

Minimum Management Experience - 7 years supervisory experience
