Duties: Design and implement mechanical engineering solutions on customer projects as part of the Siemens Digital Industries Software Engineering Services team. Analyze problem statement and requirements. Develop simulation models in Siemens Simcenter Amesim platform and MATLAB/Simulink tools. Perform simulation driven analysis to understand root cause of engineering issues and develop design solutions in a systematic manner to address the issues. Develop vehicle and Driver Assistance control systems in MATLAB and Simulink and use powertrain and vehicle simulation models, environment simulation in Simcenter Prescan tool to study performance of these control systems. Coordinate with the project team to plan technical steps and detail the engineering tasks for each of the project milestones. Develop and size transmission clutch mechanism and its components and perform simulation-based studies to evaluate its performance and to identify root cause of issues. Evaluate the impact of clutch design on vehicle attributes such as NVH, clutch clamp load and wear capacity. Analyze requirements to develop test scenarios and then perform Model-In-the-Loop and Hardware-In-the-Loop simulations with the test scenarios to assure the quality of the control design implementations. Document solution approaches and results and present to project stakeholders and team members. Provide business and technical feedback to business development and project management teams. Provide technical guidance to customer engineers in the application of design techniques and system procedures related to simulation based testing and performance evaluation of powertrain and Driver Assistance control systems using the models.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 18 months of experience in Engineering Services Engineer or related occupation. Position requires experience with the following: Development of clutch and clutch release system design using 3D CAD modeling; Derivation of clutch components' sizing to satisfy transmission performance and NVH requirements; Resolution of clutch related customer & product issues through engineering analysis; Performance of Failure Mode Analysis on design elements; Driver Assistance controller development using MATLAB, Simulink, Prescan for path planning and collision avoidance.
