For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $98,000 - $148,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric is looking for an experienced Sustainability Consultant to join the Energy and Sustainability Business. This role is opened to remote work in the U.S.
What will you do?
- Lead the development of client sustainability strategies including facilitating executive/elected official level presentations and the analysis and benchmarking of performance to support organizational goal setting and implementation planning
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary, or multi-workstream projects spanning various aspects of a clients sustainability platform in a collaborative and effective manner. This can involve creating project plans, delegating tasks and deliverables to colleagues, and providing ultimate oversight and review of deliverables.
- Conduct climate-related risk and opportunity assessments and scenario analysis engagements in order to prepare clients for regulatory disclosure, embed strategic resilience into the fabric of the client's business, and integrate climate risk into their enterprise risk management practice.
- Contribute to the Climate Risk Management service line by developing methodologies, commercial strategies, training team members, and ensuring high quality deliverables across all Americas climate risk projects.
- Develop energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) / carbon emissions inventories, water footprints, waste footprints and other environmental inventories including data analysis, emission factor development, calculation methodology, web-system deployment and support clients' third party environmental reporting activities
- Develop or recommend initiatives and abatement models for achieving or informing corporate goals for energy reduction, green energy adoptions, or GHG reduction, including progress toward Net Zero goals or Science Based Targets (SBTs)
- Prepare or revise client communications for sustainability performance aligned to key industry reporting platforms, such as CDP, DJSI, GRI, GRESB, and various federal and state/local disclosure programs, inclusive of project management, stakeholder interviews, drafting, and submittal.
- Research, filter, warehouse and communicate emerging information and trends relating to global sustainability initiatives such as environmental and carbon legislation, renewable and efficiency incentives, and reporting programs
- Organize, inform and partner with multi-disciplinary teams within Schneider Electric to help coordinate service and solutions delivery
- Build and support relationships with regulatory entities, vendors and product/service companies
- Some domestic and international travel necessary (5-15%)
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Bachelors Degree in Sustainability or Environmental Sciences, Energy, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related technical field, Masters degree in Sustainability or Business, preferred
- 7+ years of related professional/consulting experience and an interest in pursuing a career in sustainability. This should not be viewed as an entry-level position.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience in either climate-related or enterprise risk-related role. Both consulting and in-house corporate experience are accepted.
- A clear and applied understanding of enterprise risk management practices, including how organizations identify, assess, manage, monitor, and mitigate risk. Experience and understanding of financial risk disclosure in 10k reporting preferred.
- A strong understanding of the Americas and global regulatory environment for climate risk disclosures such as CA SB 219 / SB 261, IFRS Standard 2, SEC's Rule for The Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors, and CSRD.
- A strong understanding of the TCFD recommendations and methodological approaches to climate scenario analysis. Experience working with corporations to implement these recommendations highly preferred. A clear aptitude for analytical and conceptual problem solving and comfort conducting quantitative analysis.
- Project management experience
- Proven track record in developing, managing, and executing client solutions
- Progressive history of building successful relationships
- Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, complex analysis and ideas in a concise manner
- Analytical self-starter with strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on multiple complex projects in diverse areas
- Advanced computer experience in Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with a focus on creating high-quality, high-impact client deliverables.
