The Opportunity:
As the global leader in energy procurement with over 35 years of expertise in aiding clients to lower their energy expenses and enhance energy efficiency, our Energy and Sustainability Services division, located in Melbourne CBD, is in search of an Energy Sourcing Analyst (also known as Energy Procurement Analyst) to join our Energy Sourcing team. As the Energy Sourcing Analyst you will play an integral part in a well-established and closely knit team of professionals who pride themselves on their positive impact and contribution to an inclusive work environment.

Day to Day Responsibilities :

You will be responsible for running RFPs for electricity and gas supply contracts (including C&I, Progressive Purchasing, SME Multisite and Spot contracts) for clients in Australia and New Zealand. You will be also responsible for completing complex financial analysis; developing energy procurement strategies for clients; understanding electricity and renewable energy markets; training others; developing and upgrading templates; documenting processes. You will be confident in presenting to clients, online and in person (when appropriate).

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Engage with Client Managers and other internal stakeholders to deliver an exceptional level of service to our clients.
  • Manage the RFP process, perform complex financial analysis of the responses.
  • Writing reports detailing analysis results and recommendations.
  • Negotiate and utilise quantitative and qualitative techniques to deliver optimal energy contract terms and price outcomes for our clients through regular interaction with energy retailers and renewable generation developers.
  • Engage with clients to discuss analysis results and recommendations.
  • Build on existing energy market knowledge and relationships to achieve best results for our clients.
  • Support Client Managers as an energy procurement expert during discussions with clients and through the course of a client engagement.
  • Innovate processes or services to digitise & automate processes, improve effectiveness and efficiency, and improve the client experience.
  • Develop and deliver accurate and timely reports, responding to client queries as required; proactively communicate with internal and external clients.
  • Review work outputs from the team to ensure accuracy.
  • Utilise and contribute to development of internal Schneider Electric procurement platforms, ensuring development suits local needs and establishing/implementing procedures which utilise the proprietary systems.

Shortlisting for these opportunities will require the following skills, attributes and qualifications:
  • Applicants with tertiary qualifications in one of the listed fields or a related technical field are required: Finance, Accounting, Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Energy or Economics.
  • Advanced MS-Excel skills are essential with the ability to identify, analyse, and comprehend information from numerous sources, including working with large data sets, and communicate pertinent information to the appropriate parties.
  • Demonstrable analytical ability with a sharp eye for numerical detail is essential, as is the ability to understand and discuss potential financial outcomes.
  • Proven ability to remain focused in a complex and fluid environment whilst delivering tasks accurately and on time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer-focused and good stakeholder management skills.
  • Computer programming skills will be highly regarded but not mandatory, as will experience with Python, SQL, R, Matlab, Qlik.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and focused, capable of taking ownership and delivering desirable outcomes within a complex and changing environment, whilst remaining an integral part of a close-knit and friendly team.
  • Procurement experience within the energy industry, including at an energy retailer or advisor, will be highly regarded.
