Mission:
To take responsibility for the Safety & Environment strategy within the UK&I and the implementation of safe working practices in line with current legal requirements and company policy/procedures and strategy, ensuring risks are minimised and correct working practices maintained. To work with all areas of Safety & Environment and bring a unified approach to all, to ensure all employees are competency trained in correct working practices.
To seek continuous improvement on Safety & Environment practices from all parts of the respective business areas.
As part of your development in this position, you will undergo a Health and Safety qualification.

Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety - implementation of strategy in line with current legislation and company policy/procedures.
- Ensure that all businesses in the zone have a safe system of work (method statement, risk assessment, lone working and permit to work etc) and that all employees involved have signed up to the safe system and are supported with any necessary templates.
- Support and implement and control where appropriate the UK&I IMS
- Arrange, and carry out audits and Health & Safety Inspections and Audits at both static locations and customer sites. Make recommendations arising from these inspections and monitor implementation. Coordinate customer audit requirements as required.
- Investigate and review all accidents and incidents, carry out a root cause analysis in each case and recommend actions required then monitor completion.
- Carry out relevant risk assessments and method statements at all locations. Ensure all personnel are briefed and signed off on the risk assessment. Ensure operational areas carry out job-specific risk assessments. Support with site-specific and specialist requirements and identify and support training requirements.
- Ensure that all suppliers / sub-contractors are properly assessed before inclusion on the Approved List and regular reviews take place with all subcontractors.
- Represent the company in all external audits by HSE, clients etc. Support internally and externally in respect of safety-related matters.
- Produce regular management team reports in respect of Safety & Environment matters, attendance at management and Safety & Environment meetings.
- Provide coordinated Safety & Environment training, set minimum acceptable standards and seek continuous improvement across the business. Assist the UK Safety & Environment Country Operations Manager, in respect of safety across Schneider Electric in UK&I.
- Increase employee awareness of Safety & Environment and support the Country Operations Team.
