Role: AWS Redshift Database administrator

Experience: Overall 5 - 8 years (4-5 years relevant)

Location: Bangalore/India

As a database administrator, you will work with diverse data analytics technologies on the cloud. Technical Responsibilities include deploying, managing, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant databases on AWS. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate results and issues to internal and client teams. Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.

Primary Responsibilities Include



• Own the architecture for the AWS Redshift clusters across all environments.

• Own the database administration of the Enterprise Data Warehouse on AWS Redshift.

• Own the architecture for our Enterprise Data Warehouse on AWS Redshift including cluster and node topology, configuration, and sizing.

• Automate provisioning, operation, monitoring and troubleshooting of the database and data lake infrastructure.

• Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.

• Keep up to date with emerging cloud technology trends on AWS Redshift.

• Define design standards for AWS Redshift for use by development and support teams. Partner with the Data Architect to define data modeling standards.

• Partner with data engineers on query design during projects and while performing analytics, and to analyze, troubleshoot and optimize application and ad-hoc queries in production.

• Provide operational management for our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) in AWS Redshift across all environments, including configuration, maintenance, code migration, and incident response.

• Identify and execute cost, performance, and uptime optimizations.

• Partner with the Analysts and Business Partners on data extracts as needed.

Technical Essentials



• Expertise in Redshift Administration for managing databases, user tables, indexes, statistics, managing permissions addressing the user issues.

• Experienced in core AWS services like EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC.

• Experienced with the AWS console and basic command-line tools (AWS CLI).

• Familiarity with data processing concepts like ETL/ELT pipelines. Basic experience with Python or Scala for data manipulation.

• Excellent and proven knowledge of AWS Redshift and SQL demonstrated through 4+ years in a Redshift DBA role.

• Excellent knowledge of related AWS technologies included Aurora, Redshift Spectrum, S3, EMR, DynamoDB and Athena, AWS Lake formation, Glue, AWS data shares, GitHub, PySpark

• AWS Certification is preferred.

• Experienced with generating various DB health statistics, utilization and right sizing.

• Experienced with data sharing mechanisms like S3 Sharing and Redshift Sharing. Sharing using Lake formation. sharing between accounts, regions

• Automating the repeated DBA tasks.

• An interest and ability to learn new technologies.

• Experience with data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or AWS Glue. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data quality practices.

• Experienced with AWS serverless services like Lambda, Step Functions, AWS Glue and Redshift Serverless.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automating infrastructure and code deployment.

• Experienced with cloud monitoring and logging services like CloudWatch.

Bonuses
