What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking highly motivated students with a passion for learning all-source technical analysis and analytic tradecraft as defined by the US Intelligence Community (IC) to join our R&D Undergraduate Interns in the Threat Intelligence Center Proliferation Assessments group for Summer 2025 at Sandia's Albuquerque site. Qualified candidates will be part of a larger family, namely Technical Internships to Advance National Security (TITANS), which focuses on Cybersecurity, Software, and Math Analytics.

We are seeking students who want to pursue a career in national security and the US intelligence mission. We are focused on developing the next generation of experts in all-source analysis and analytic tradecraft. You will use your foundational skills in language arts and national security to assist ongoing intelligence analysis projects while advancing your knowledge of the US intelligence enterprise and requirements for producing analytic products that meet tradecraft standards.

Your job could consist of:

  • Open-source research required to answer key intelligence questions.
  • Technical analysis relevant to technology associated with weapons of mass destruction.
  • Technical analysis relevant to network operation, information protection, and resiliency.
  • Technical analysis relevant to data science, information theory, and streaming and behavioral analytics.
  • And many more areas of research!

    Your projects will be real-world research on key intelligence questions and engineering challenges contributing to a mission space affecting national security. There's no busy work in the Threat Intelligence Center! Your summer project will advance our ability to answer key intelligence questions that lay the groundwork for analytic products intended for delivery to US policy makers.

Salary Range:

At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Ability to secure and maintatin a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

    Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Existing or previously held security clearance.
  • Proven strong writing and briefing skills (writing samples may be requested).
  • Currently enrolled in the University of New Haven's National Security Program (applicants from other universities are also eligible).

The primary mission of the Proliferation Assessments group within the Threat Intelligence Center is to assess the threats posed to US national security interests by foreign advanced weapons capabilities, especially nuclear weapons. Our analyses inform policymakers and senior officials across the US government responsible for understanding the threats and risks posed by these weapons. Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
