The Controllership Operations organization serves as the bedrock for operational excellence and technology innovation across the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) organization. Our mission is to drive efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence while relentlessly pursuing opportunities for automation, AI, and process improvement in support of the broader CAO organization's strategic vision.

As part of the Controllership Operations team the Senior Manager, Strategic Initiative Execution will be reporting to the Senior Director, Portfolio Management & Process Transformation. This individual will be responsible for the planning and execution of large-scale strategic initiatives to deliver business value across the CAO organization which includes: External Reporting, Technical Accounting, Expense Operations (Equity, Payroll, Expense / Accounts Payable, Travel), SOX 360, and Controllership. The ideal candidate (1) possesses strong project management skills demonstrated through the management of complex/transformational initiatives, (2) excels at process development and implementation, (3) communicates very effectively, (4) executes through influence, and (5) collaborates well with peers and leadership.

This is an office-flexible role for Indianapolis, IN or Atlanta, GA. The candidate selected for this role will go into the office 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with leaders to translate strategic finance and accounting objectives into executable initiatives to drive value and address business challenges
  • Effectively plan, coordinate, and direct the delivery of large, complex initiatives while managing risks and issues to minimize scope, budget, and schedule impacts.
  • Serve as day-to-day lead for initiative teams with responsibility for deliverables and outcomes
  • Develop comprehensive initiative plans inclusive of all core execution tasks as well as Change Management and Communication activities.
  • Manage and facilitate key initiative meetings with team members, partners, and sponsors including the development of executive caliber materials
  • Track and report initiative status on a regular basis
  • Effectively manage third-party resources including monitoring of tasks and preliminary reviews of deliverables
  • Decompose and map business processes, assess and analyze workflows, and lead process redesign and optimization to drive efficiency
  • Proactively build strong, trusted working relationships with functional leaders and internal and external business partners to drive alignment
  • Effectively lead, empower and hold accountable initiative team members in a matrixed organization to complete priorities

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years of confirmed experience in designing, delivering, and managing transformational initiatives
  • Management Consulting experience with Accounting and Finance processes/technologies
  • Solid command of project lifecycle and project management methodologies (e.g. PMI framework, etc.)
  • Proficient at crafting (Google Slides /PPT) and delivering executive level presentations
  • Demonstrated organization with high attention to detail
  • Quickly earn the trust of initiative team members, partners, and sponsors through preparation, professionalism, organization, and consistency
  • Ability to work autonomously while coordinating multiple initiatives at varying stages
  • Sense of personal ownership and commitment to the successful execution of areas of responsibility
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues, develop effective solutions, and implement strategies to overcome challenges
  • Active listener and communicator, who can convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing to various levels of leadership
  • Assess and tailor approach to leaders preferred working styles and preference based on observations and feedback
  • Self-starter with the ability to work through ambiguity and evolving environment while handling several time-sensitive priorities
  • Proficient with Program & Project Management Tools (Smartsheet, Asana, etc.)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • MBA, Advance Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
