The Senior Director, Sourcing for Marketing, Events, and Travel will provide leadership and strategic vision for the team to develop category strategies, optimize value, and manage supplier and executive stakeholder relationships. The scope of this role covers all of the subcategories related to Marketing, Marketing Technology, Advertising, Meetings, Events, Talent, and Travel. The candidate will leverage their subject matter expertise in Sourcing, Finance, Negotiation, Supply Chain, Strategy, Innovation, and Analytics to manage $1.5B of annual spend, coach and develop the team, and drive transformation projects and initiatives within GPS and across the enterprise globally. The successful candidate will be a strategic/transformational thinker with a track record of delivering measurable results in sourcing leadership roles. They will partner with the CMO's leadership team to set up multiyear global strategies, targets and align business and sourcing priorities. Success in this position requires an agile leader with strong influencing and strategy skills, combined with a deep understanding of the market and flexible sourcing/contracting best practices. This dynamic position requires excellent communication, relationship building, and influencing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing Strategy: Partner with key stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive sourcing strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives and the departmental objectives of executive stakeholders. Continuously assess and adjust the strategy to respond to market dynamics and industry trends.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, pricing, and performance to ensure the highest quality and cost-effective supply chain solutions.
  • Cost Management: Drive cost saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process optimization. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high performing sourcing team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
  • Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain consistent engagement with Executive Stakeholders across the organization to ensure that Sourcing & Procurement is aligned with their objectives and measurably contributing to their success.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.
  • Data Analysis: Leverage data analytics and technology to make informed decisions and drive procurement excellence. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to senior leadership.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Lead efforts to integrate sustainability and responsible sourcing practices into the procurement function, aligning with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Global Collaboration: Lead engagement with global Sourcing peers to identify and implement global synergies across the categories, as well as maintain best practice sharing to ensure consistency and connectivity across GPS.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in sourcing/procurement roles, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence senior management and critical stakeholders and to communicate the group's vision and accomplishments.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Champion for change that can act decisively to drive decisions while being agile to support a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and data analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in sourcing.
  • Exceptional leadership and teambuilding capabilities.
  • Strong communication, executive engagement and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical and sustainable procurement practices.

Team:

Global Procurement and Sourcing (GPS) manages company spend for all categories including technology, corporate and professional services, real estate, and marketing meetings and events. GPS partners with all divisions/functions to strategically source and proactively manage Salesforce's spend with a focus on added value and building a best-in-class procurement function for sustained savings and competitive advantage. GPS reports into the Finance department and is composed of approximately 200 professionals worldwide.

This includes:

  • Ensuring strategic cost excellence: providing optimal service and quality for the lowest cost and focusing on ongoing cost containment.
  • Acting as a change agent to improve processes, ensure compliance to Procurement Policies, and manage supplier performance, including encouraging innovation.
  • Driving superior sourcing, category, supplier development and management, supplier business reviews, category management, and risk management expertise in Salesforce's key spend areas.
