Role Overview
We're looking for a highly technical and passionate leader who can build a world-class technical talent team, inspire and engage, and deliver outstanding results to revolutionize developer experiences at Salesforce.
You will scale a secure CI system at massive scale, supporting the build and testing of thousands of microservices and executing millions of tests across multiple branches. You will have an opportunity to delight 10,000+ internal developers and 100,000+ external developers with an innovative CI platform and solutions.
Additionally, you will be responsible for people management, career growth, and team development, ensuring that engineers are continuously learning, growing, and advancing in their careers. You will mentor, coach, and drive a culture of high performance, innovation, and accountability within your teams.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy: Build and scale highly functional and accountable teams focused on CI/CD, developer tools, and cloud automation, driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
People Management & Career Growth: Develop and mentor engineering teams, fostering a high-performance culture with a strong focus on career development, skill-building, and leadership growth. Define clear career progression paths and ensure continuous learning opportunities for engineers.
Developer Experience: Define and enhance the developer experience by designing scalable, self-service, and intelligent automation solutions.
Cloud & DevOps Excellence: Drive cloud-native best practices across AWS, GCP, and/or Azure, optimizing build pipelines, compute resources, and containerized workloads.
Scalability & Performance: Drive teams to architect and optimize large-scale CI/CD systems to support millions of pipelines per week.
Innovation & AI: Leverage AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics to build a highly responsive and secure state-of-the-art CI system.
Security & Compliance: Implement left-shifted security in the CI process, providing early feedback to customers and ensuring compliance at scale.
Customer-Centric Approach: Understand the needs of teams not yet using the CI service, work with POs and stakeholders to prioritize expansion, and drive adoption across hundreds of scrum teams.
Operational Excellence: Improve CI platform availability and reliability to meet organizational goals and expectations.
Required Qualifications
12+ years of industry experience in software engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure, with 5+ years in an engineering leadership role.
Strong expertise in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), including tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Spinnaker.
Deep understanding of DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and cloud operations with hands-on experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) (Terraform, CloudFormation) and container orchestration(Kubernetes, Docker).
Experience developing a CI system at an advanced technology company (Web 2.0).
Strong background in building scalable engineering platforms that improve developer productivity.
Hands-on experience with Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCS) like Git, Mercurial, or Bitbucket.
Experience with SOA/microservices architecture and managing high-scale CI/CD environments.
Strong execution leadership with Agile/Scrum experience and data-driven decision-making.
Experience managing remote teams across different time zones.
Proven ability to mentor, coach, and drive career development for engineering teams.
