We're seeking an experienced structures engineer to provide technical & analytical support for structures on commercial fan modules, with responsibility for the durability and structural integrity of engine components. Specific structural engineering specialties may include static and dynamic stress analysis of airfoils, rotors, and cases, and fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments. A senior engineer will be expected to provide analytical results and technical solutions from preliminary design through engine development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service; participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight; and plan and cover validation testing (engine & rig) and data-reduction.
What You Will Do
- Independently perform structural analysis of components via hand calculations and finite element analysis.
- Identify & assist in planning tasks, leading sub-teams to deliver results with cross-functional integration as well as coach/mentor team members.
- Utilize analysis results to provide recommendations/proposals to the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
- Work closely with all engineering disciplines on the IPT to identify balanced solutions to technical tasks and utilize latest P&W structural best practices and analytical tools.
- Provide documentation of analyses in the form of formal reports and presentations for management and customers.
- Support production and in-service field investigations as well as coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods, plus document and present results to management and external customers.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or in a related field and 5+ years of prior relevant experience, OR Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or in a related field and 3+ years of prior relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Travel up to 10%.

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)
Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.
Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.
Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering executes both military and commercial repair design and repairs substantiations for engines. We create and improve ASE business and repair development tools. We design, develop, and qualify military repair tooling.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
