We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Software Task Manager to join our Patriot software development team in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. The Software Task Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring tasks are efficiently managed, and the development process runs smoothly. This role requires a blend of project management skills and technical knowledge, as well as the ability to work closely with software engineers, program and functional managers, and other stakeholders.

What You Will Do

Task Planning & Coordination:

Develop and maintain detailed project plans that include timelines, milestones, and deliverables for software development tasks.

Project Monitoring & Reporting:

Track progress of all assigned tasks and ensure timely completion. Identify potential roadblocks and proactively address them to minimize delays. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on task status and project health.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with software engineers, designers, product managers, and QA teams to ensure a smooth workflow and to resolve any task-related issues. Foster communication between different teams and ensure everyone is aligned with project goals.

Resource Management:

Monitor team bandwidth and allocate resources effectively to avoid bottlenecks. Ensure team members have the tools and information needed to complete tasks successfully.

Process Improvement:

Continuously assess and refine task management processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Implement best practices and keep the team updated on new tools or techniques that can improve productivity.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Leadership experience in managing software development teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing complex systems and applications using C/C++, Java, or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience in estimating software development efforts to support bidding and proposal activities.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an interim secret U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • A Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, software architectures, and the software development life cycle and processes.
  • Proficiency with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with common networking protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP/IP.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to create technical documentation and a strong interest in learning new technologies and tools.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in software development within a team-oriented environment, preferably using Agile/SCRUM, DevOps practices, and test automation.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. This position is in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Living in Massachusetts means you'll have easy access to the ocean and locations of historical significance. The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
