The Air Transport Display Systems organization is looking for a systems engineer to develop state-of-the-art, industry-leading avionics solutions for commercial jet airplanes. In this role, you will lead other systems, software, and hardware engineers in the development of flight display systems used on air transport category airplanes.

  • Provide technical leadership through all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating with hardware and software components, system validation and verification

  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level systems engineers


  • Coordinate and work with other domains and departments to realize a functional system


  • Work with external customers to document operational scenarios, develop system requirements, define system interfaces, and perform system validation testing


  • Serve as a subject matter expert for pursuit activities, internal design reviews and external customer reviews


  • Manage the cost, schedule, and scope for moderately sized system development activities


  • Identify and implement process, system, and product improvements to enhance performance and improve efficiency

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience


  • 5+ years of experience leading all phases of the development lifecycle including requirements, design, integration, verification, and validation


  • 5+ years of experience bidding and estimating engineering efforts


  • 5+ years of experience delegating, coaching, and mentoring engineers

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Experience designing and developing safety-critical, real-time, embedded systems


  • Experience developing systems that are compliant with ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178, DO-160 and DO-254


  • Experience with ARINC standards ARINC 429, ARINC 664 and ARINC 661


  • Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more engineering domain areas


  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems spanning across multiple disciplines and functional areas


  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions to implement improvements to systems, products, or processes


  • The candidate must be highly motivated and a self-starter, capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and coordinating the work of others


  • Continuous learner motivated to stay up to date on recent technologies, industry trends and process advances


  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation), including ability to communicate with different levels of leadership


  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and diverse teams

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
