As a Flammability Lab Manager in our testing operations, you will oversee and enhance the scheduling of test coupons, streamline material flow, and coordinate manufacturing, procurement, shipping, and testing processes. Your expertise will ensure that our flammability testing initiatives meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

What You Will Do:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and inspire a dedicated team of technicians, handling all people-management responsibilities to foster a high-performing work environment.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate seamlessly with the Flammability Engineering group, EDL Purchasing, EDL Conformity, EDL Management, and external suppliers to orchestrate all flammability testing activities, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
  • Project Scheduling: Work closely with the Flammability Engineering group to effectively schedule and prioritize upcoming A, C, and D-burn projects, optimizing resource allocation and project timelines.
  • Visual Management: Develop and maintain visual management tools and standard operating procedures for flammability projects, enhancing transparency and operational efficiency.
  • Material Procurement: Liaise with EDL Purchasing to guarantee timely procurement and delivery of essential materials for burn projects, aligning with critical program deadlines.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain a well-organized inventory of materials necessary for the creation of flammability test coupons, ensuring readiness for all testing phases.
  • Manufacturing Coordination: Oversee the kitting of materials for flammability coupon production, create work orders and inspection documents, and execute manufacturing functions with precision.
  • In-House Testing: Conduct rigorous in-house tests on flammability coupons to validate performance and compliance with established standards.
  • Shipping Logistics: Organize the kitting of completed flammability coupons for efficient shipment to external test laboratories, ensuring smooth logistics and timely delivery.
  • Work Assignments & Oversight: Delegate work assignments, manage schedules, and review ongoing projects to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and recommend modifications to standard procedures, driving continuous improvement in testing protocols and documentation.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure thorough documentation, reporting, and storage of test results, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Flotation Testing Oversight: Extend your expertise to manage similar duties for flotation test coupons, ensuring comprehensive support across testing domains.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of test equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Safety Coordination: Work in partnership with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) teams to address safety-related items, fostering a safe testing environment.
  • Material Management: Implement effective date-of-expiration materials kitting and management processes for EDL.
  • Certification Maintenance: Obtain and maintain Flam Lab Qualifications with industry leaders such as FAA, Airbus, and Boeing, ensuring our compliance with the highest standards in aviation safety.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

Qualification We Prefer:

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience in the Aircraft Industry.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
