What will you be doing?

World Wide Technology, Inc. has an opportunity for a Platform and Lab Engineer. As an engineer on the Managed Services Build Team, you will be responsible for collaborating with our ATC engineers, while ultimately owning creation of new labs to support the ever-growing OEM landscape of Managed Services. Self-Learning and at a rapid pace are going to be the norm for you in this role. You will also need to understand and incorporate our myriad of monitoring tools and platforms to provide technical SME expertise to our engineers delivering services to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Build labs within WWT's ATC (Advanced Technology Center) platform which is vCenter-based and all self-service. Work with other engineering teams so collaboration is a must. Able to understand virtual infrastructure within this platform to build labs with virtual components, hybrid of virtual and physical, and sometimes physical only components.
  • Jack-of-all-Trades engineer for Managed Services including but not limited to: SD-Wan, Route/Switch, Unified Communications, Data Center (compute & storage), Cloud Platforms.
  • Able to research, configure monitoring of labs, and become SME around OEMs, how to monitor, and tooling used to monitor the myriad of products we support.
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring: SNMP Polling / Traps, SysLogs, as well as API (REST) based.
  • Coordinate and an Collaborate with other members in a professional, high-performance team.
  • Able to be a self-starter / self-organizer as well working with peers.
  • Desire for change, learning, and new opportunities; Managed Services moves at the pace of our customers and even faster.
  • Ability to do research and discovery around new technology, distill this down into demonstrations / trainings for the rest of the team.
  • Able to speak and direct to internal team audiences, higher-level non-technical discussions.
  • At times, speak to customers directly as a SME around our systems, integration, and monitoring for specific OEM solutions.
  • Provide support for other areas of MS Build: Transition, Life-Cycle Management, Tactical Day-to-Day, Development and Integration as a SME of Monitoring Tools and OEMs.

Qualifications

  • BS degree and 5+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Must have a strong background in Infrastructural Technologies and Engineering.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, product demonstration, customer service, and presentation skills required.
  • Intrinsically/self-motivated: must thrive in situations where given autonomy and responsibility to find solutions to problems with limited direction.
  • Storytelling skills to share the why and how of what we do.
  • Strong presentation skills, comfortable training other teams
  • High attention to detail and able to solve complex challenges
  • Able to work in a high-performance collaborative team
