We are seeking an Engineer II to join our team in Rockford, where you'll play a key role in designing and developing cutting-edge integrated systems and subsystems for military and commercial aircraft. You'll work closely with cross-functional product teams to deliver high-performance electronic controls and rotating hardware for electric systems.
In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in electrical/electronic engineering to ensure that designs meet customer specifications and industry standards. You'll be responsible for coordinating design documentation releases, conducting rigorous development and qualification testing, and supporting the entry into service process. You'll also have the opportunity to define and prepare testing procedures, document design studies, and failure analyses-making a direct impact on the success of complex aerospace projects.

What You Will Do
- Interface with customers, project teams, chief engineers, and program offices to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project.
- Manage requirements, decompose them, and ensure proper flow down to various systems and components.
- Contribute to both preliminary and detailed design phases, ensuring designs meet program requirements and customer specifications.
- Conduct development and qualification testing to validate system performance.
- Generate system and LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) requirements documents.
- Create and integrate controller models using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Perform electric system load analysis.
- Validate high-level requirements and conduct testing on desktop simulations.
- Establish verification methodologies to ensure compliance with standards.
- Coordinate test facility requirements and support test planning.
- Oversee system integration and subsystem-level testing in development test facilities.
- Support aircraft and customer lab testing as required.
- Execute system engineering standard work (SW) and processes.
- Provide technical assistance to the manufacturing team as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

Qualifications We Prefer
- BSEE degree with 2+ years of experience.
- Preferred experience in Aircraft Electric Power System design, including generation, distribution, communications, or BITE, with skills in requirements management, simulation development, system verification, and testing.
- Preferred experience in DC system and battery expertise, utility and load management, and motor control (induction and permanent magnet, both sensor less and sensed).

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
