Raytheon in the White Sands, NM Missile Range/El Paso region is seeking a successful candidate to be responsible for supporting the Environmental, Health and Safety program for several sites. The position reports directly to the White Sands Missile Range EHS Manager. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to be part of an Environmental, Health, & Safety team as an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer. The selected candidate must be a self-starter, be able to work independently, and be able to work in a flexible environment where one size does not always fit all.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant industrial hygiene, safety, human factors, and environmental experience with strength or background in safety. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to prioritize and provide timely support for a variety of internal customers and programs while balancing the need of Army host environmental and safety programs on a daily basis. Candidate should have strong communications and interpersonal skills to influence internal and external groups including engineers, military, and management.

What You Will Do

  • Support site programs, initiatives, and activities to include direct support of missions and operational activities in and across White Sands Missile Range/El Paso region.
  • Under the direction of the WSMR EHS Manager assist in managing assigned EHS programs such as Hazardous waste, general environmental, chemical safety/approval, explosives, safety, industrial hygiene, and others as assigned by the site EHS Manager
  • Interpretation of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, Army, DoD, and other standards as necessary for direction of Raytheon personnel and programs.
  • Interact with outside contractors and government entities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best industry practices
  • Act as a resource and leader to ensure implementation and promotion of health and safety initiatives for Raytheon personnel
  • Work with limited autonomy to solve problems, complete tasks and ensure successful maintenance of all assigned EHS activities
  • Coordinate with internal business partners regarding facilities, equipment, and employee practices
  • Provide and compile documentation in preparation for reports, metrics, and read across information to support both local and corporate EHS programs
  • Maintain the WSMR site AED and first aid kit resources to include but not limited to remote sites and mobile resources
  • Support the sites involvement in the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program including initiatives related to management commitment; employee involvement; hazard assessment; hazard prevention and control; and safety and health training
  • Conduct first aid and OSHA injury and incident investigations, using root cause analysis to develop corrective actions and tracking to completion
  • Support WSMR Business Resilience and Crisis Management team in providing training, incident resources, and informational follow-up to senior site leadership
  • Travel to multiple sites in the region will be required (i.e. White Sands Missile Range; Fort Bliss, El Paso)

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Experience in safety and health standards, criteria and guidelines issued by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Conference of Governmental industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and other applicable regulators.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Project.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Minimum five (5) years of prior relevant experience in managing ergonomics, environmental, safety or industrial hygiene programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) requirements
  • Technical or professional certification related to the Environmental, Health and Safety field such as a Certified Safet Professional (CSP), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), etc. This is not required but will be recognized as proof of in-depth technical experience.
  • Current CPR/AED/BLS certification (any provider)
  • Ability to handle potentially stressful situations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, but will not hesitate to seek additional information from supervisors or peers so tasks can be completed timely and correctly
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and programs in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate effective prioritization and implementation skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and follow-up on workflow in a team environment to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and effective verbal communications.
  • Well-developed written communication and presentation skills.
  • Well-organized and have excellent attention to detail and thoroughness with accomplishing tasks from inception through completion in a multi-tasking environmental
  • Be flexible to accept additional assignments, campaigns and rotations to other EHS programs including environmental and sustainability

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
