Associate Director, Engineering - Disruptive Systems Technology (Onsite)
Role Summary:
Mission Systems Advanced Technology & Capabilities Engineering seeks an Associate Director Engineering Manager to lead the Communication and Navigation Technology - Disruptive Systems Technology organization. Our cross-discipline team solves defense customers' toughest problems through rapidly developing, integrating, and demonstrating systems that employ cutting-edge signal processing and networking innovations. We pride ourselves on creativity, facing challenging and complex problems head on, and pushing the limits of the possible - all to provide the Warfighter with the most responsive and disruptive capabilities that navigate the intersection of communications; position, navigation & timing (PNT); cyber space; and other radio frequency (RF) systems.
What You Will Do:
- Lead a multi-disciplined team of highly innovative engineers in the invention, development, integration, and demonstration of new concepts and capabilities.
- Oversee the execution of externally funded programs and IR&D projects, striving for 100% customer satisfaction.
- Lead collaboration with cross-discipline teams to integrate and demonstrate advanced capabilities.
- Develop and execute a technology roadmap, maintaining awareness of technology and Collins' competitive positions.
- Work across the business to drive capture of technology programs, leading to collaboration with major universities and DoD laboratories on groundbreaking research & demonstration projects.
- Develop innovation strategies via collaboration with external agencies, internal customers and partner organizations across the company.
- Collaborate with personnel across Mission Systems and RTX to set strategic direction, support technology transition planning, and recommend projects for independent research & development (IR&D).
- Develop and nurture internal and external networks, forging relationships with peers within Mission Systems Engineering, Business Development, and Value Stream leadership.
- Travel for customer and stakeholder engagements (up to 15%).
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience.
- Experienced with software defined radio or multi-function radio frequency (MFRF) systems development & integration.
- Familiar with software engineering, signal processing, hardware engineering, and rapid systems prototype development.
- Knowledge of techniques required to counter threats and enable operation in contested environments.
- Supported field demonstrations and integration of RF systems into platforms.
- Experience leading technical teams with a passion for challenging and developing people.
- Experience supporting pursuit, order & capture activities.
- Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic team leader.
- Knowledge of current industry trends.
- Demonstrated tenacity and capability in a fast-paced, dynamic, creative work environment.
- Strong customer focus, interpersonal & networking skills.
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal/written communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in identifying, communicating and mitigating risks.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance or higher is required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Expert in leading technology prototype development for communications, cyber space, and other radio frequency (RF) systems.
- Expert in one or more of the following disciplines: software engineering, signal processing, hardware engineering, and rapid prototype systems development.
- Experience leading pursuit, order & capture activities for research programs.
- Experience leading complex field demonstrations and supporting integration of RF systems into platforms.
- Extensive experience in rapid prototype development.
- Familiar with FPGA & software-based signal processing
- Familiar with electronic warfare and position, navigation & timing (PNT) systems.
- Prior communications design and simulation experience using tools such as Matlab and Simulink.
- Familiar with Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning techniques.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret with SCI security clearance prior to start date.
- Special Access Programs experience.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
