Located in Rockford Illinois, MPC is a roughly $200 M/year business supplying gearboxes, fuel and lubrication pumps, air turbine starters, and blowers to engine manufactures and airframers.

The Development Project Engineering Manager will have management accountability for all new product introduction activities for all MPC product lines. This accountability includes the early program phases from technology maturation to initial proposal, through development and qualification until entry into service of a product. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Director and will have a key role in establishing our products strategy for maintaining relevance in the marketplace along with the tactical execution of the steps needed to realize that strategy.
What You Will Do
- Lead and coach both managers and individual contributors on technical project execution and risk and opportunity management.
- Be the MPC representative with key customers to develop relationship and understand customer and market driven needs to meet demands in support of strategic planning and execution.
- Own the MPC standard work. Responsible for updating swim lanes to account for discipline updates and project owned activities with Lessons Learned, Endorsed Practices, and product line feedback.
- Coordinate the preparation of MPC proposal packages including basis of estimate, compliance matrices, and technical volumes.
- Oversee the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects. This includes active participation in internal design reviews, keeping in communication on each program's status, and ensuring project risks, industrial considerations, and other key metrics are not being sidelined during the project execution.
- Ensure discipline health for project engineering. This includes cross training and succession planning within the organization for key roles/skill sets. Evaluating staffing needs, pursuing, and recruiting for both full time and co-ops to ensure department needs are met.
- Work across the organization to identify and implement training and standards.

Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or other relevant technical discipline.
- Advanced degree(s) in business management and/or technical discipline.
- Project Management Professional™ certification
- Program management or customer facing experience.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of management.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
