Position Summary / Job Purpose

The Lead Buyer oversees and manages, in entirety, all procurement activities for their assigned projects. Lead Buyer ensures order accuracy, correct supplier issuance, delivery completeness and discrepancy resolutions. Works closely with internal customers on multiple concurrent projects providing timely communication on overall objectives and any mission critical updates affecting project deliverables. Coordinates data inputs across the activities to enable key reporting visibility and insights. May provide training and guidance to a number of employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of materials and services to support project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier contracts, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices.
  • Performs frequent spot checks on any employees ensuring accuracy of work and timely response to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure Buyer generated invoices in dispute are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
  • Purchasing experience or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years' experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and knowledge
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate with all levels of Management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
  • Basic to complex spreadsheet comparisons of consumption pricing and transportation costs
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with complex variables where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportion and percentages
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally at short notice.
