As an Engineering Manager, you’ll offer creative solutions to organizational design while also serving as a mentor for a team of engineers, overseeing performance management, growth opportunities, and general accountability.
VALORANT is Riot's take on a character-based tactical shooter (for more info on VALORANT click here!). As a Manager of Software Engineering on the Live Design team, you will help Riot expand and scale our newest AAA title. You will help improve the experience of VALORANT to guarantee a smooth and engaging experience for players across the globe.

The Live Design team collaborates across game design, product, esports, QA, artists, and engineering to identify and address long-term challenges in Valorant's gameplay. Our mission is to ensure a fair, engaging, and competitive experience that upholds the highest standards of integrity, continuously delivering updates that meet and exceed player expectations.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage a group of 1-3 engineers.
- Create a technical vision that aligns with key stakeholders and communicate this vision clearly to your team.
Collaborate heavily with other disciplines to build in and out of game systems that create new and exciting ways to engage with VALORANT.
- Build and manage strong relationships between disciplines and across partner teams.
- Set a high technical bar for what your team delivers while allowing room for engineers to remain agile and creative.
- Be proactive in surfacing and addressing issues and areas improvements for your team.
- Lead, grow, and coach team members to build talent over the long term.
- Cultivate your team's culture of collaboration, creativity and passion for game making.
- Partner closely with shared teams at Riot that provide cross game capabilities.
- Resolve conflict and respond to emergent issues.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience directly leading an engineering team either as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead & mentor.
- Familiarity working in an agile environment.
- Experience collaborating across departments and disciplines to create solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with Unreal Engine.
- Experience developing complex code bases with C++.
- Experience working in the gaming industry.
