The Connections Platform org at Zillow is dedicated to creating seamless and meaningful connections between our customers and their move team, regardless of where they are in their home-buying journey! Connections Platform is comprised of four individual teams including:
- The Centralized Lead Platform, which is designed to ingest, process, and route leads across Zillow's various services, ensuring a standardized and efficient lead management process.
- Switchboard Conversations facilitates communication between consumers and professionals through SMS, voice, and email, providing centralized compliance and subscription management.
- Switchboard FindPro orchestrates the handoff between customer and internal operators (i.e. Agents, Loan Officers, Closing Services). These handoffs leverage Twilio to for real-time voice connections.

- Pearl focuses on leading the pre-connection experience, ensuring that customers are effectively connected to Zillow professionals through initiatives like lead routing and cross-sell workflows.

About the role
As a Senior Engineering Manager of the Guardians team within the Centralized Lead Platform, you will play a critical role in delivering business value by solving sophisticated problems that span multiple teams and organizations. You will partner with fellow leaders to identify and align on problems, bringing to bear your deep expertise to build sophisticated solutions. Your impact will be felt across the company as you shape technical strategies, influence architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers. You will be responsible for building systems that are flexible, maintainable, secure, and testable, ensuring they can scale and adapt to the evolving needs of the business.
As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering Connections Platform, you will:
- Lead the design and implementation of sophisticated systems that span multiple teams and organizations.
- Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product managers, principal engineers, and other stakeholders to align on technical strategies and solutions.
- Ensure the systems you build are secure, reliable, efficient, and maintainable.
- Communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, tailoring your message to the needs of each group.
- Drive operational excellence, proactively identifying and resolving issues to maintain system health and performance.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $201,700.00 - $322,300.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- Proven experience delivering high-quality production code working with a team.
- Hold a BS in Computer Science or related field; OR 12 years relevant non-internship experience.
- Proven experience in back-end (Golang, C#, Java, AWS Infra) technologies. Front-end technologies (React, AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML, CSS) is a plus.
- Experience building or leading platforms is required for this role. History of building solutions centered around Lead Ingestion is a plus.
- Own the quality of your team's feature work through test automation and monitoring.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make high-judgment decisions in sophisticated and ambiguous situations.
- Have been recognized as a technical leader on your team and have a sizable impact beyond your team.
- Passionate about setting standard methodologies and raising the bar for testing, code quality, and maintainability - not only for the team but for the entire engineering organization.
