Job Summary
The Specialty Maintenance Technician independently performs a variety of skilled tasks related to facilities and vehicle fleet. These functions include the maintenance and improvements of assigned facilities, utilities, equipment repairs. It also involves tasks in electrical work, carpentry, plumbing, welding, and painting. Supports corporate and specialty project initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Core responsibilities for the position are as follows:
- Performs a variety of skilled tasks related to maintenance and building improvements throughout the organization as assigned by the facility manager, VP of Support Services, or division managers.
- Undertakes special projects and completes projects independently meeting defined deadlines.
- Responsible for ensuring facilities, utilities, and equipment meet RMC defined standards and are maintained in good repair.
- Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools, and equipment related to the building maintenance and restoration trades.
- Keeps tools and equipment related to the restoration trade in proper working condition.
- Diagnoses problems and troubleshoots equipment; repairs faulty equipment related to the restoration trade.
- Performs a variety of assigned welding and metal fabrication projects ensuring projects are completed as per specifications.
- Assists Fleet Manager with tasks related to vehicle maintenance, vehicle customization/ aftermarket, and body work as needed.
- Maintains records related to assigned activities and work performed including accurate logging of relevant documents, work orders, project progress visuals, and purchase orders.
- Assists in the onboarding process of new employees; supports in the workstation set up, position specific checklist, and job specific tools and safety gear for new team members.
- Adhere to the health and safety protocols and guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Experience/Requirements
The position of Specialty Maintenance Technician requires the following:
- High school diploma, equivalent technical training, or equivalent experience.
- Completion of apprenticeship program.
- 3-4 years of proven experience in the maintenance and/or construction trades.
- Certifications related to welding, utilities, basic electrical circuit, or plumbing.
- Experience using power tools is a must.
- Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft office programs.
- Adaptable to a variety of environments or work demands.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently with little direction or supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions
Working conditions for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Move, lift, carry, push, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 lbs.
- Move up and down stairs, service ramps and/or ladders.
- Reach overhead and below knees including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Travel to other facilities as needed.
- Required OT for scheduled work, after hour response and weekends options available.
