We are seeking a seasoned Senior Director of Security to spearhead the strategic and operational aspects of our security and privacy posture. The ideal candidate will lead our security operations, information security and application security teams, and the development of innovative security / privacy features. This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set and champion strategic direction of security initiatives, aligning with business objectives
  • Manage security operations team in monitoring, responding and adapting to threats
  • Direct application security team in setting and validating security standards for software development
  • Manage our approach to security and access management for our cloud infrastructure
  • Work with stakeholders to manage our approach to data governance
  • Ensure organization achieves and maintains critical security certifications (e.g. SOC 2) and complies with global legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Manage team developing customer-facing privacy and security features (e.g. auth[n|z])
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security- and privacy-related policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits, and enhance our posture accordingly
  • Maintain awareness of the latest security threats and countermeasures
  • Manage and mentor team members and promote professional growth
  • Foster culture of security awareness and continuous improvement

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a strategic CISO or similar senior security leadership role
  • Deep understanding of security frameworks, risk management, and compliance regulations
  • Ability to communicate complex security concepts to diverse audiences
  • Experience in leading security operations, infosec, and application security teams
  • Strong understanding of consumer-facing technologies and their unique security challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge and improve the status quo
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 10 years progressively responsible security experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or extensive related experience is required, a Master's degree is preferred
  • Experience working in e-commerce and B2C businesses preferred
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM.) preferred

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base compensation for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.

USD $172,260.00 - $321,420.00 annually
