Overview

Rain Bird is a leading irrigation manufacturer, with high growth ambitions for its operations in China which constitutes one of the key irrigation markets in the world. The General Manager of Rain Bird China is both the leader and the manager of the business entity.  This person will be responsible for achieving sales and market share growth objectives and ensuring smooth and profitable operations. This person will hire and coach staff effectively to best support growth objectives and set high customer service standards.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Achieving sales and market share goals
  • Achieving the subsidiary’s P&L, budget, and margin targets
  • Setting, implementing, and executing strategic business plan
  • Hiring, leading, developing, and coaching a talented team of professionals in Sales, Operations, Service; justify and hire additional positions, as the business grows
  • Build and enhance relationships with key customers, influencers, stakeholders in the market
  • Managing effectiveness of operations including inventory level and accuracy, customer service, purchasing, import/export, A/P and A/R, information systems and compliance
  • Identifying, prioritizing, and pursuing business broadening opportunities throughout the region
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the different Strategic Business Unit (SBU) in the US to ensure that Rain Bird China’s needs

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in general management including P&L responsibility as well as leading sales teams
  • Strong and proven record in driving high business growth and in change and people management
  • Strong leadership skills (ability to train, motivate and develop a team)
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin, strong written and verbal communication and excellent computer skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 30% of the time
  • Highly energetic and motivated person with an ambition to succeed

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with a US company with international business experience
  • MBA degree preferred
  • Experience in irrigation or other engineered products sold through a distributor/dealer network
  • Experience working in a multinational, matrix environment
  • Interest as a potential next step to take an international business leadership position.
