Prudential's Operational Risk Management (ORM) team supports the execution of Prudential's strategy by helping to ensure that risks are well understood and managed. Joining ORM provides a tremendous opportunity to see across Prudential and work with leaders to help drive business outcomes.
We are seeking a Global Head of Operational Risk Management who will be responsible for overseeing Prudential's global enterprise-wide operational risk framework, which sets out governance, policies, and practices to proactively identify, assess, measure, report and mitigate operational risk exposures. The Head of ORM works in partnership with Divisional Chief Risk Officers to influence risk and control outcomes in the company's businesses and functions. Additionally, the Head of ORM will lead second line Risk for Prudential's Global Technology & Operations (GTO) organization. The role will report to Prudential's Chief Risk Officer. The Head of ORM role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in risk management within the insurance and retirement sectors.

The current Employee Work Arrangement for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence in Newark, NJ on a reoccurring basis.
What you can expect:
- Continuously develop, advance and lead a comprehensive enterprise-wide operational risk management strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and business objectives, including providing common standards, tools and technology.
- Ensure that ORM practices are adopted and integrated across Prudential's businesses and functions.
- Establish and maintain second line Risk oversight and frameworks for key enterprise operational risks such as business continuity and operational resilience, third party risk management and data governance.
- Partner with first line Risk to monitor and manage risk mitigation strategies for technology and operational processes, including cybersecurity, data protection, and technology transformation.
- Directly lead a team of 10+ risk management professionals, while providing independent oversight and effectively challenging and influencing the work of larger teams through matrixed reporting relationships with first line Risk leaders.
- Collaborate with senior executives and department heads to promote a risk-aware culture and ensure cohesive risk management practices.
- Develop and enhance business intelligence and data analysis capabilities to support risk management decision-making.
- Utilize data-driven insights to identify emerging risks and inform strategic planning.
- Communicate risk management strategies and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders, including the board of directors, investors, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide regular updates on risk management activities and significant risk exposures.
- Establish strong external connections that demonstrate Prudential's strength as a leader in ORM practices and incorporate peer company best practices in the ongoing development of our Risk frameworks.
What you'll need:
- This position requires keen external focus, finance or insurance expertise, and avid learning given the rapid pace of change globally.
- Resourcefulness, good judgment, persistence, the ability to influence others and strong executive presence are some of the qualities of a successful candidate.
- Experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders across large, complex organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, Master's) or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) is desirable.
- Experience in financial services/insurance or other highly regulated industries.
- 12+ years of experience gained through a mix of technology, risk and/or audit related roles; candidates with management consulting experience in these areas would also be desirable.
- Experience and desire to lead large teams in an embedded (matrixed) operating model.
- Consistent track record of effectively working with data to manage risk and process re-engineering, simplification and streamlining.
- Comfortable in ambiguity and an advocate for change.
- Possess high-level verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize work and possess good time management skills.
