As a member of the Individual Life Insurance (ILI) senior leadership team, the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer will be responsible for leading a team that will develop and execute the ILI marketing and internal and external communications strategies that drive growth and accelerate achievement of ILI's business objectives. These complementary capabilities deployed cohesively will drive growth of the ILI business, connect employees to the business strategy and engage stakeholders in conversation about how ILI directly drives Prudential's purpose, mission, vision and value-creation strategy for existing customers and prospective consumers across the country.

As a member of the ILI Empowered Team, this leader will directly report to the President of ILI and maintain a reporting line to the USB heads of Marketing and Communications. The current EWA for this position is hybrid with 3 days per week in a CT or NJ Prudential location.

As the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Prudential's ILI business, you will be responsible for casting the strategic vision for Marketing and Communications to support ILI business objectives, proposing detailed campaign strategies across ILI product lines, preparing budgets and performance forecasts, and executing tactics that achieve desired results. You will act as a strategic orchestrator, bringing the modern marketing and communications capabilities to the business through understanding their business needs and strategically executing in order to accomplish these goals. You set the pace and tone for the team on accountability, communication, and transparency. You are the face of Marketing and Communications to the ILI business and serve as a strategic partner to the ILI executive team.

Specific Marketing responsibilities include:

  • Develop a go-to-market strategy for ILI's business objectives using next-generation marketing capabilities to drive growth in existing and new product lines across ILI distribution channels.
  • Implement an innovative, "always on" digital media strategy leveraging influencers, sponsorships, and social media to amplify brand reach and support broader business strategies.
  • Define target audiences, value propositions, and messaging to personalize customer experiences, and engage directly with customers to enhance marketing strategies.
  • Utilize data and user insights to refine ILI brand positioning and optimize campaign execution, ensuring alignment with business goals. Continually track marketing performance against forecasts with clear scorecards and KPI frameworks.
  • Lead agile teams focused on specific ILI objectives, aligning with BU leadership on annual, quarterly, and sprint-level goals. Develop a thorough understanding of new product offerings and incorporate them into marketing strategies and planning.
  • Partner with brand marketers to develop and test messaging for improved brand awareness and consideration.
  • Manage the ILI marketing budget, ensuring effective distribution across marketing capability teams and reconciliation of expenses to achieve measurable ROI.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior business partners and marketing leadership while leading a team of marketing professionals towards continuous learning, proactive market engagement, and collaborative strategy development.

Specific Communications responsibilities:

  • Lead the team that develops and executes the internal and external ILI communications strategy;
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to effectively tell ILI's story and harness the voice of the President in all formats (e.g., speaking engagements, internal announcements, social media management);
  • Create and distribute relevant and meaningful content to stakeholder groups that advances growth of the business;
  • In coordination with Global Retirement and Insurance and Enterprise Communications, nurture strategic relationships with media channels, thought leadership and industry publications and editors to influence reach of ILI's story and accomplishments, creating a virtuous flywheel amplifying the Prudential brand and ILI's value proposition to customers and clients.
  • Support execution of events and internal engagement forums for employees, advisors and other constituents including but not limited to Town Hall meetings and conferences.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent experience)
  • 15+ years of related experience bringing forward the best of modern performance marketing and communications practices, ideally in the financial services industries; ILI experience a plus
  • Experience working in a decentralized marketing organization and agile environment preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, and dynamic environment where agile principles are key
  • History of effective relationship management, influencing, and strategic thought partnership across large organizations with multiple stakeholders
  • Advanced knowledge of developing integrated marketing plans across all marketing channels
  • Ability to drive technology-amplified strategies through an understanding of MarTech, AI, Machine Learning, and other technologies
  • Specific MarTech experience such as ABM, journey orchestration, CDP platforms/tools (Adobe, Marketo) experience preferred
  • Strategic integrated communications activations including earned media experience
  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of marketing industry best-practices and emerging trends, with ability to anticipate shifts and understand customer dynamics
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions through applying and leveraging strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Influential executive presence and business savvy.
