The Chief Product Owner (CPO), Group Insurance Experience is responsible for setting the vision and strategy for our Group Insurance platforms and customer journeys. This role involves partnering with business leadership to identify market and customer needs, ensuring a strong return on investment (ROI), and driving the flow of work on the platform. The CPO oversees a suite of products, including customer portals and billing systems, and is accountable for negotiating funding and resource needs with internal business partners.

The Chief Product Owner reports to the Chief Marketing Officer, Group Insurance, and leads a team of highly motivated product owners.

The current employee work arrangement for this position is hybrid and requires on-site presence as determined by business needs, preferably in Shelton, CT, Newark, NJ, or Dresher, PA. However, we are open to candidates from anywhere in the United States. Your manager will provide specific details regarding the number of on-site days required.

What you can expect:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Set the vision and strategy for the Group Insurance customer journey and platforms.
  • Partner with business leadership to identify market and customer needs.
  • Sequence and prioritize digital roadmaps that align to business needs and negotiate funding and resource needs with internal business partners.
  • Initiate and leverage market insights on digital market trends, broker, employer and employee needs, the competitive landscape, and digital innovation and service models in the group insurance space.

Product Management:

  • Manage a portfolio of products, such as customer portals, billing systems and mobile app.
  • Ensure the ROI for the journeys/platforms and routinely report progress to stakeholders.
  • Define and prioritize features in the journey backlog; Validate and accept completed features.
  • Establish and manage a governance process with key partners / teams to prioritize enabler work.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead a team of product owners and foster a culture of high performance, collaboration and transparency.
  • In partnership with the CMO and head of Customer Operations and Service, champion CX efforts across Group Insurance and Enterprise Marketing teams.
  • Create successful followership among peers and team members.
  • Join and contribute to the Prudential Digital Guild, an internal organization comprised of all CPOs.

Communication and Influence:

  • Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders across Group Insurance and Global Technology.
  • Influence and negotiate strategic changes across business lines and functional teams.

What you'll need:

Essential Skills:

  • Deep technical knowledge and the ability to link product, process, business, and customer needs to drive world-class outcomes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, and partnership skills, with a proven track record of negotiating change across multiple business lines and functional teams.
  • History of successfully delivering projects on time with iterative release components.
  • Excellent planning, prioritization, and communication skills, with frequent interactions with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in a financial services business, managing multiple teams and products.
  • Experience in managing a large team and fostering a positive, productive work environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to diverse audiences, including clients.

Desired Skills:

  • Extensive business knowledge across various group insurance, or B2B2C, products.
  • Familiarity with Lean-Agile principles and practices.
  • Experience analyzing trends in digital interactive product design, mobile design, or responsive design
  • Understanding of Net Promoter Score (NPS) programs and Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) programs, and the influence your team would have on them.

What we offer you:

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $200,000.00 to $270,500.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
