About the Role:
PitchBook News is a growing team of writers and editors who produce compelling journalism with original insights. We shine a light on fascinating people, companies, and market trends, leveraging our best-in-class datasets on the private equity and venture capital markets to engage our audience. As a team, we pride ourselves on being endlessly curious and building a collaborative, reader-focused culture driven toward excellence.
This editor works in all facets of digital newsroom production with a fast-paced team covering the financial markets and technology. This role calls for top-notch wordsmithing, eagle-eyed proofreading, headline writing, image curation, and deadline adherence to keep the production cycle running on time. This editor helps enforce quality control on all content covering the financial markets across PitchBook's newsletter, website, and other media channels as needed.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Copy edit and fact-check news articles for spelling, grammar, readability, accuracy, and adherence to PitchBook style on an as-needed basis
- Edit daily newsletter briefs on all topics quickly and with little direction
- Write newsletter briefs, social media content, and report promos as needed
- Work directly with the staff writers to review their articles, providing first line-editing and publication of breaking news and other news content when required
- Support the news team on conceiving and editing data visualizations and selecting photos
- Ensure that content consistently meets editing standards across multiple content types and content management systems
- Coordinate with a team of editors to produce our daily newsletters and to continue developing best practices for content editing, production, and publication
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of previous professional editing experience in a deadline-driven environment
- Familiarity with the financial markets and knowledge of the private market is a plus
- Excellent proofreading skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience working in a digital newsroom or a similar fast-paced, deadline-driven publishing environment
- Knowledge of Associated Press or in-house style guides
- Ability to incorporate data or data-driven content into reporting and editing
- Familiarity with online content management systems and basic project management software. Brightspot experience a plus
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

Compensation
- Annual base salary: $68,000-$80,000
- Target annual bonus percentage: 7.5%
*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.
Working Conditions:
We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
