ROLE SUMMARY

Biotherapeutic Discovery and Engineering (BDE) group within BioMedicine Design (BMD) is seeking an Associate Scientist to support our therapeutic discovery efforts across a wide range of diseases. Our group is focused on designing and developing innovative therapeutic modalities and we are looking to expand our research team of driven scientists to aid in antibody discovery and biotherapeutic engineering. A desire to learn new techniques and expand the knowledge about novel technologies is essential as we look for a driven scientist motivated to have an impact on our innovative approaches. The individual will work collaboratively in a supportive environment to be trained on various DNA and protein-related techniques.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • High-throughput cloning of antibodies and antibody fragments into multiple formats.
  • Phage display library panning.
  • High-throughput screening of phage and IgG by binding assays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, etc.
  • Nanopore sequencing of antibodies and antibody fragments.
  • Mammalian cell culture.
  • Preparation of DNA and phage libraries (cloning and DNA purification, E. coli electroporation and phage rescue).
  • Using liquid handling automation and developing automated processes for screening and molecular biology.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree +0-2 years' experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in molecular biology, e.g. restriction enzyme or scarless cloning in complex antibody formats.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in antibody screening and characterization by ELISA, including the use of automated liquid handling equipment.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in integrating database and machine learning tools into discovery workflows.
  • Familiarity with phage/yeast display for discovery.
  • Familiarity with bacterial/mammalian cell culture.
  • Strong computer skills, including facility with Genedata Biologics and writing code to automate laboratory tasks.

Nice To Have

  • Experience in display library construction and design.
  • Experience in protein/antibody engineering.
  • Experience in NGS sequencing analysis.
  • Experience with protein structural analysis software.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $54,700.00 to $91,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
