About the role
As Vice President Commercial, Invicro Discovery you are responsible for leading and maximizing the sales performance of Discovery, driving revenue growth, developing strategic market positions, and ensuring the commercial viability of the entity. You will provide hands-on leadership to the sales, marketing, and contracts and proposals for Discovery. You will driving the company's commercial strategy and developing the team's ability to deliver on its objectives. This position requires a commercially astute and highly motivated leader who is passionate about driving business success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Sales Performance: Accountable for achieving sales targets across Discovery. Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue growth and market penetration.
- Strategic Commercial Leadership: Design and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy with guidance and collaboration with Discovery scientific leadership, which maximises sales efficiency and aligns with broader business objectives.
- Market Expansion and Business Development: Identify new market opportunities and capitalize on them to expand the reach and impact of Discovery services. Position the entity strategically for competitive advantage.
- Customer/Internal Stakeholder Relationship Management: Ensure strong, lasting relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders, employing strategies that enhance customer loyalty and satisfaction, thereby supporting sales growth.
- Financial and Budget Management: Manage financial strategies and budgets to support commercial operations and sales objectives. Regularly monitor financial performance and adjust tactics to meet targets.
- Innovation and Service Alignment: Collaborate with scientific and service line leadership to ensure marketing and sales strategies are integrated with new service offerings, meeting evolving market demands and customer needs.
- Team Leadership and Capability Building: Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team to achieve ambitious sales goals and high performance.
- Performance Metrics and Analytics: Implement robust metrics to track sales performance and operational effectiveness. Use data-driven insights to continually refine sales strategies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary commercial spokesperson within Discovery, communicating sales strategies and performance clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Marketing Oversight: Manage all marketing activities to ensure optimal alignment with the value proposition of service offerings.
- Proposals and Contracts Oversight: Oversee the proposals and contracts team to align with strategic goals and compliance standards.
Skills:
- Proven Sales Leadership: Demonstrated expertise in leading sales within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical service industry, consistently achieving and surpassing sales targets.
- Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Skilled in developing sales strategies that effectively address market dynamics and customer needs.
- Subject matter knowledge: Experience and a deep understanding of the broader translational imaging landscape (from pre-clinical to early clinical phases) and experience and understanding of work with subject matter experts in a complex environment.
- Exceptional Leadership: Ability to motivate and guide a commercial team toward top-tier sales results.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong ability in building relationships and negotiating with key stakeholders.
- Strategic Direction and Resource Prioritization: Define and implement the strategic direction, ensuring effective allocation of resources and activities in line with internal stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Pre-Sale Lifecycle Management: Enhance pre-sale processes, including reducing turnaround times and implementing robust tracking mechanisms to identify and address gaps efficiently.
- Oversee Marketing Functions: Direct the marketing team to ensure that commercial activities are aligned with the overall strategy. Drive marketing campaigns that effectively communicate the value proposition Perceptive Discovery.
- Conference Strategy: Work with the scientific leadership to develop a strategic approach to conference participation aligned with scientific areas of focus, including prioritization, preparation, and KPIs to measure success.
- Information Aggregation: Systematize the aggregation of KPIs, forecasting, and reporting for escalation. Ensure strict compliance and effective escalation processes are in place.
- Salesforce Transition: Oversee the transition to Salesforce, managing the change process to ensure maximal utilization and minimal disruption.
- Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership for the commercial team, ensuring members are well-trained, equipped with necessary skills, and have access to the resources required to excel in their roles.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Significant leadership experience in sales to Life Science Companies
- Significant sales, marketing and contract and proposals experience
- Proven experience of directly & indirectly managing and creating high performing sales and marketing teams
- Demonstrable success in setting the sales strategy and delivering consistent year over year growth
- Proven track record in delivering sales results against a plan
- Demonstrable experience, identifying sales pipeline risks and developing mitigation plans
- Proven track record of successful sales and marketing strategy implementation
- Extensive experience developing and executing commercial strategies
- Expertise in financial analysis and budgeting
- Ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, physical sciences, or related field. MBA preferred
- English: Fluent
