Senior Director, Clinical Chemistry - New Haven, CT

The Senior director of Clinical Chemistry will provide management oversight for NH chemistry team and oversee delivery of chemistry activities in New Haven. This role will provide scientific leadership and partner with BD to identify new business and input into clinical and preclinical chemistry and novel tracer development activities. The SD of Clinical Chemistry will take ownership for internal and external stakeholder management between NH chemistry and relevant parties and oversee the development of external manufacturing networks and maintenance of Environment, Health and Safety standards in relation to NH chemistry activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee a team of PhD, MSc and BSc level scientists across R&D and GMP functions.
  • Ensure goals are set in line with corporate needs and oversee definition of career pathways and staff development targets
  • Ensure deliverables are met and operational risks and issues escalated appropriately
  • Stay current on novel radiochemistry and cGMP approaches
  • Create strong links with wider (UK/US) Invicro Radiochemistry, Operational and Quality functions, BD and SMS representatives
  • Review capacity, capability and org structure needs for NH Chemistry
  • Ownership of external manufacturing activities, process definition, site identification, site setup, trouble shooting and delivery
  • Define and track Environment, Health and Safety KPI's, contribute to site EH&S committee
  • Responsible for NH Chemistry budgets
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • PhD in relevant science discipline
  • Management experience
  • Strong background in relevant radiochemistry areas using automated synthesis equipment, preferred experience with 18F, 64Cu, 89Zr, 111In, 99mTc
  • Strong background in Pharma or Biotech
  • Strong understanding of Environment, Health and Safety requirements
  • Strong understanding of cGMP
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements for IND submissions (CMC)
