Invicro is currently looking for a Senior Associate Scientist who will perform in vivo, small animal medical imaging studies, including nuclear medicine studies (PET/SPECT), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the context of a multi-modal imaging laboratory to aid in the development of novel therapeutics. The qualified candidate will be charged with the management of the imaging equipment and/or staff, as well as communicating data and project updates. This position will provide an opportunity for growth in leadership skills and exposure to cutting-edge sponsor research projects.

Essential Functions:
- Hands-on, animal research using advanced instrumentation with mentoring by leading medical imaging scientist
- Training and managing a staff of 3-4 to best allocate resources for study execution
- Collaborate within a matrix environment with research staff, business development, project management, and image analysis teams
- Work with group members to learn about imaging physics, literature, and professional societies
- Produce comprehensive reports and presentations on research to internal project managers and external collaborators
- Follow, execute and write laboratory specific SOP's related to role
- Assess study protocols for experimental details
- Participate in protocol reviews
- Lead projects and schedule necessary tasks
- Meet and determine timelines related to protocol execution
- Learn technical/theoretical applications involved in executing pre-clinical studies
- Maintain clear and concise laboratory notes
- Perform data quality control and upload relevant documents upon study completion
- Work with IACUC to implement and ensure compliance of animal use protocols
- Execution of efficacy studies, biodistribution studies, pharmacokinetic studies, toxicokinetic studies, and xenograft models
- Work with radioactive and BSL2 samples and test articles including gamma counting, sample disposition, and proper handling and disposal of associated materials
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS 5+yrs experience or MS 3+yrs experience in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, medical physics, radiologic sciences, pharmacology or other engineering degree
- Experience should include academic or industrial projects utilizing imaging technology, programming, pharmacology or other applicable engineering skills
- Relevant experience - basic animal handling, pre-clinical or clinical imaging, handling of radioactivity
- Organized with ability to manage complex experimental designs
- Comfort with various computer operating systems and programs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Some weekend work required
Preferred Skills:
- Hands on experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technician or Radiology Technician
- Previous experience with medical imaging equipment and with research involving radioactive imaging agents
- Understanding of biology, pharmacology, or small animal imaging in the context of pharmaceutical research
Highly Desired Skills:
- Test article administration IV, IP, SC, IM, PO
- Perfusion
- Tissue resection
- Microdissection of tissues (lymph nodes, specific brain sections, etc)
- Biological sampling procedures
- Experience working with BSL2 animals and samples
- Experience with IACUC/Animal Inventory management system (preferably Cayuse)
