Associate Scientist II, Imaging & Pharmacology - San Diego, CA
Perceptive Discovery is looking for an Associate Scientist to join its Molecular Imaging Lab based in San Diego, California. The candidate will execute in vivo, small animal medical imaging studies and related in vivo pharmacology procedures, including nuclear medicine (PET/SPECT), computed tomography (CT), optical (BLI), ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The candidate will join a team in our multi-modal imaging laboratory and aid in the development and characterization of novel therapeutics and diagnostics. This position will provide an opportunity for rapid technical growth and exposure to innovative pharmaceutical industry research projects. The successful candidate will join a close, dynamic, expanding, diverse, and highly performing team. We are seeking a junior scientist with demonstrated experience in adapting to dynamic workloads and evolving study designs, ensuring high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced research environment.

Essential Functions
- Direct rodent (mouse and rat models) handling.
- Research using advanced preclinical imaging instrumentation in collaboration with experienced imaging scientists.
- Operation of multi-modality imaging scanners.
- Performance of in vivo pharmacology procedures including administration of therapeutic and imaging agents via all routes (PO, IP, IV, SC) necropsies, and tissue handling.
- Management of in lab study execution including underlying assignments, tasks, quality, and timely completion.
- Training and oversight of junior support staff (research assistants).
- Collaborate within a matrixed environment with research staff, project management, and image analysis teams.
- Willingness to learn various surgical models, techniques, and interventions.
- Experience with rodent oncology models is a plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, medical physics, radiologic sciences, biology, pharmacology, or other engineering degrees.
- 2+ years of direct, hands-on experience in an in vivo pharmacology lab; imaging experience desired
- Project planning and execution in a cross-functional laboratory environment.
- Inclusive collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to productively partner with diverse cultural and scientific internal and external teams.
- Ability to manage complex experimental designs.
- Ability to show skills with problem solving, attention to detail, and organization.
- Strong written and oral communication and computational/analytical skills.
- Experience with various computer operating systems and programs.
Salary range is $72,00- $82,000
