The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. Position Summary
The intern will help the team monitor and engage with Congress and Federal Agencies and track federal health policies. This includes attending Congressional hearings on health issues, attending meetings with Congressional staff, and drafting follow-up emails. The intern will help the PPGR team to stay organized, including gathering materials for meetings and programming and staffing events on the Hill and elsewhere. The intern will also assist with internal presentations by gathering data, creating graphics, and drafting slides.

An intern with PPGR will have opportunities to practice their writing skills throughout their time, and will also get hands-on experience with Congressional procedure and Congressional composition and can expect to come away from their time with PCORI with increased fluency on Congress and Federal health policy.
This role is hybrid and requires at least 1-2 days in-person work in the D.C. office and especially on Capitol Hill.
Pay Range and Employment Status:
Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.
- Bachelor's hourly pay: $17.50
- Master's and above hourly pay: $20.00
Required Experience
Ideal candidates will be pursuing their postgraduate education in Health Policy, Public Health, or Government Relations.
