The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. PCORI is committed to continually seeking input from a broad range of stakeholders to guide its work.
Position Summary
The intern will develop a summary of definitions related to health equity, social drivers of health, and determinants of health. all statements within PCORI's Research Agenda. This landscape scan will support the development of internal definitions for these areas to enable the description of PCORI's portfolios in these areas.

The Planning & Evaluation department is seeking an intern who will have the opportunity to:
- Identify concepts and terms relevant to the definitions that will support portfolio search strategies.
- Scan and catalog research priorities relevant to PCORI Communities through a review of a pre-defined set of web-based materials. This review will support PCORI's evolving Research Project Agenda.
- Provide a final overview & synthesis of research priorities from approximately 40 organizations.
Pay Range and Employment Status:
Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.
- Bachelor's hourly pay: $17.50
- Master's and above hourly pay: $20.00
Required Experience
Ideal candidates will be pursuing their undergraduate or postgraduate education in Public Health.
